Chapter 28
Chapter 28
Like every time, he was trying to take advantage of this event, standing too close to me. His statement clarified his treacherous intentions, he was moving Heaven and Earth to give our partnership a whole new meaning.
So, I stepped back, maintaining a proper distance between us. Otherwise, the rumors of our supposed affair would circulate all over the internet tonight.
Suppressing my repulsion, I smiled through the rest of the interview, dealing with all the stuff single–handedly. I couldn’t afford to lose my mind there!
Once that crowd disappeared, I went to my office and asked Echo.
“Mr. Leo must be here. Please ask him to see me.”
Meanwhile, Brandon came into my office for my signature on files, he praised me for my public dealing today. I was instructing him to arrange a meeting with all the sponsors on urgent notice when the door was knocked, Leo sauntered into my room with a mug of
coffee in his hand.
“I liked the croissants at the refreshment for the reporters, Miss Becker. Can you please
share the name of the bakery with me?”
Brandon forgot all his work and immediately gave him a card as he sat on the couch
leisurely.
“Please contact the Ideal Bakery. They are new, but their bakers are simply the best.”
A tornado of fury hit me as I saw Leo sipping his coffee so calmly. I only waited for
Brandon to leave and asked him word by word.
“Enjoyed the little show back there?”
Instead of showing any remorse, he responded to me cheerfully.
“I have to say that the way you handled it was just what I’d expect from the CEO of a FB

management company.”
Then almost absent–mindedly he added, “I know Henry pretty well. But until now, I didn’t
realize that he was your husband. Besides, I didn’t know you were so eager to find a new
man after breaking up with me.”
See? Such an arrogant person. His off–hand comment on my personal life made me suspicious about his indulgence in the set–up at the interview, but what he said next took
me by surprise.
“By the way, I have heard that he has a sister named Laura, just like you. Do you know her?”
When I was with Leo, no one knew I had a brother–let alone that he was the founder of the
renowned sports brand TKlink.
A sliver of dread touched my spine as his icy gaze pierced through me, trying to know all the secrets from the depths of my heart.
If it were old Laura, she would have swooned by the amount of attention he was giving me, but everything has changed now.
He was trying to dig out more information about my relationship with Henry by using his sister’s name. Whatever his motive was, I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of a positive response. So, my lips curled up in a cold smirk as I said,
“That’s my private matter, Mr. Leo. There’s no need to keep you
informed.”
Hearing me neither confirm nor deny my connection to Henry, his expressions abruptly turned cold, even a bit irritated. Laughing at his condition, I decided to sprinkle some salt over his injury and spoke casually.`
“Please take my advice and instead of worrying about other people’s business, you should pay more attention to your detailed girlfriend.
It won’t be anyone’s fault if she ruins your career after getting out!”
Leo appeared wounded by my words, slamming the coffee cup down heavily on the table.

Shouldn’t I be the one who’s annoyed?
My personal life was displayed for gossip and despite achieving his goal, he was expressing
his discontentment in my office.
Blimey!
I pointed towards the door and bid him farewell, pretending to be swarmed by the work
files.
“The agreement had been signed. So good bye, Mr. Leo! Please go back to your home and take care of your kid and your..wife, or whatever.”
Leo didn’t react to my attempt of shooing him away, and silently got up. But after crossing the short distance between the couch and the door, his expressions took an one–eighty degree turn. He put on a cheerful smile and asked me.
“Since we are partners, how about dinner on Friday?”
