Chapter 12
The ten bodyguards, and five assistants assigned to her security, failed to take care of her.
Bloody Hell!
Had I hired a bunch of idiots?
I should have taken her with me on the flight, keeping her closer to me. However, it wasn’t my intention to leave her all alone. The media circus forced me to arrange a private jet for
her safety.
She was too young for all this drama.
Blinking my eyes rapidly, I tried to push away the tears pooling in my eyes and call the private detectives. Widening the area of search ASAP was the need of the hour.
I was dialing the number of my friend’s company when a caller ID flashed on the screen, clearing the haze of uncertainty in a split second.
My heart flipped in my chest to see my Jane’s name displayed on the screen. I swiftly counted my entire wealth before clicking the green icon in case of ransom demand.
“Hello, mommy!”
Jane’s energetic voice sounded like a symphony as she greeted me happily. It was like the first rain after years of drought, which rejuvenated my soul as I heard her cute voice.
“Mommy, please don’t be mad. I came to see my friend at his place.”
The voice of a little boy in the background confirmed that my girl was at her friend’s house, reliving my panic.
Taking a deep breath, I thanked God and comforted Jane, asking her about the address.
“Mommy isn’t mad, Jane. Where are you now? I am coming to pick you up.
Echo quickly became attentive to take notes, I repeated the address as Jane told me.

“217 West, 5th street, White Mansion
The address of that mansion caught me off guard, I was unable to believe my ears. A cold
of
pit knotted my stomach as the location of this haunted building trembled my heart.
My voice came out shakier than I intended it to be as I questioned Jane to confirm my deepest dreads,
“Where are you right now, Jane?
My little girl responded to a thrilled invitation to continue playing and spoke gleefully,
“I am at Zoe’s house, mommy. Do you remember him? He always stands second in every competition.”
Jane’s reply reminded me of a five–year–old cute boy who was her competitor in ice hockey. They both were participating in kids‘ level competitions, where my Jane was the best player every time due to her matchless talent.
However, the connection of my daughter’s friend and that address from my dark past couldn’t make sense, I was pondering over this mystery when Jane’s excited voice
resounded in my ears.
“OMG, mommy. Zoe’s daddy has also joined us to play. You know, he is the famous ice hockey star, Uncle Leo.
Mommy, please come and…”
The cell phone slipped from my hand as I fell back, shaken by the force of an unexpected revelation. My brain was pushed to its full capacity to process the strange twist of fate, where my daughter was calling that trash her uncle.
Holy cow!
What had I done to see this day?
“Mr. Leo, we are here on the behalf of Jane’s mother to take her home.”
arcistant Echo announced the

purpose of our visit confidently.
The presence of armed guards, and countless servants didn’t intimidate her, she was performing her duty professionally.
Holding my head high, I glanced at my trash security staff.

Leo’s tall, muscular figure exuded a cold and cunning demeanor as if possessing a sharp insight and decisiveness as a businessman. I had seen news where he had invested a lot in various companies, emerging as a young competition.
His signature aloof look didn’t waver a bit as Echo handed him a file. He barely looked at the authorization documents before replying frostily.
“As her guardian, shouldn’t her mother be here to pick her up by herself?”
Leo raised his brow, looking in my direction. His sharp gaze met mine over the crowd, causing me to instinctively tense up. If it wasn’t for my sunglasses, his piercing eyes would have spotted tension on my face.
However, my Jane immediately recognized me in the crowd despite sunglasses.
“Mommy!”
Pushing through the guards, she ran towards me and wrapped her tiny arms around my legs. Then she spoke sweetly.
“I missed you, mommy!”
Her cute voice filled my heart with love, removing the uneasiness of seeing Leo shortly after coming to Lakon city. Crouching down, I gently kissed her cheek.
Patting her head, I asked her, “Please wait for me with Aunt Echo, Jane.”
My obedient daughter swiftly followed my instructions, so I stood up and took off my sunglasses, finally revealing my identity. The guards immediately recognized me, parting to make a way for me. I composed myself while walking up to Leo and approached him with a straight face.
