“If it weren’t for my goddaughter, I wouldn’t even bother with you,” Lena said, gently rocking the baby in her arms. “Right, little Aurora? Your godmother just adores you”
“Come on, Aurora, it’s time to eat,” Lena said as she carefully placed the baby in Keira’s arms.
Although it was her first time, Keira wasn’t embarrassed. She followed Lena’s instructions, trying to breastfeed for the first time.
But the process was… painful.
And since her posture was incorrect, neither of them got it right–Keira ended up covered in sweat from struggling, and her baby still hadn’t eaten properly.
Panic set in. Anxiety crept up her spine.
“What do I do?” Keira asked, her voice tight with unease.
“It’s okay. This happens at first. Let’s transition with formula for now,” Lena reassured Keira before glancing at Hayden, who had been standing there the whole time, watching anxiously–and sweating just as much as Keira
was.
“Go make your daughter a bottle,” she told him.
Hayden, the man who always came prepared, was suddenly as clueless as a rookie.
“Will it always be this difficult?” he asked, frowning.
“It’ll get easier. Once the specialists arrive in the morning, and Rea gets the hang of it after a couple of tries, everything will smooth out,” Lena said, her tone relaxed. She had seen far too many cases like ours to be worried.
Hearing this, Hayden visibly relaxed. He wiped the sweat off Keira’s forehead before heading off to prepare the formula.
“Even with a daughter, he still hasn’t forgotten about his wife. Not bad,” Lena praised.
Since Keira hadn’t managed to breastfeed successfully, her once calm and quiet baby started fussing.
Lena gently rocked her, soothing her in a soft voice.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. Give your new daddy a little time. He’s making your milk right now,” she cooed.
Even though Hayden had practiced beforehand, he was clearly nervous. He double–checked the water temperature and formula measurements multiple times before finally getting it just right.
By the time he handed the bottle to Lena, he had broken into a second wave of sweat.
Taking care of a baby was no joke—it was exhausting for both parents.
Lena didn’t immediately take over. Instead, she looked at him and said, “I should feed her?”
Hayden, still holding the bottle, stared at her as if waiting for her to do it.
Lena smirked. “Nope. You do it.”
She placed Aurora into his arms.
“You need to learn. If Rea isn’t able to fully breastfeed, then preparing bottles and feeding the baby will be your job,” she said matter–of–factly.

“But it’s my first time… what if I mess up and she chokes of something?” Hayden hesitated.
“Then go slow,” Lena encouraged.
At this point, Keira could see her plan clearly.
Lena was training Hayden to be a fully capable dad–so Kelta wouldn’t have to.
She genuinely cared about her and wanted to lighten her load.

Keira appreciated Lena’s effort. After all, there was no way she’d be able to do much in the next few days. Her stitches hurt too much, and she needed time to recover.
Plus, once the nannies and baby nurses arrived, she wouldn’t have to do much at all.
Still, she wanted to be involved. This was her child–being part of her care was her right and her joy.
Hayden, despite being nervous, fed their baby without issue.
He followed Lena’s guidance, ensuring the pace was neither too fast nor too slow.
At last, Aurora drank her fill and drifted back to sleep.
Lena then taught him how to burp her properly, so she wouldn’t spit up later.
Once he finished, he gazed down at their sleeping daughter, finally letting out a breath.
“You know,” he said thoughtfully, “I could’ve studied a thousand times, but nothing beats hands–on experience.”
Even with all his preparation, once he had to actually do it, he still struggled.
With the baby asleep, Lena urged Keira to rest as well before heading back to the break room.
But the moment she stepped outside, she froze.
A tall figure was standing there, waiting.
Who else could it be but Aaron?
She glanced at the window–the sky was starting to lighten.

Had he been here all night?
“Why are you just standing there? Want me to make you wait even longer?”

Hearing her voice, Aaron smirked. His deep, smooth voice carried through the quiet hallway. “You were the one spacing out instead of coming over,” he said.
