Lukas glanced at the unfamiliar number on his phone and could already guess who was calling,
He didn’t want to pick up, but compared to staying in the hospital room and enduring Elena’s clinginess, he thought it might be better
to take the call.
He looked at Elias and picked up his phone, “I’ll take a call outside.”
Elias was staying in the top floor ward, so Lukas went straight to the rooftop with his phone.
As expected, it was Emily’s voice that came through the phone.
“Lukas, is it true that you have no feelings left for me?” Her voice sounded as he had expected, a bit desperate.
Lukas’s face didn’t look good, “Are you crazy?”
He couldn’t make any sense of it.
He shouldn’t have answered this call.
Lukas was about to hang up when he heard Emily raise her voice, “Yes, I might be crazy. I left to see if you really liked me, but I saw
you get the certificate with Skylar, and I saw you help her take away Olivia’s clients.”
Lukas didn’t expect that Emily, who was abroad, would be so well–informed about things in the country.
Martins mentioned it to him this afternoon as well.
Ella, the client of Skylar, was originally Olivia’s.
But Ella got to know Anthony, and as soon as Anthony asked Skylar to customize the jewelry, Ella dropped Olivia.
Lukas sneered. She couldn’t even retain her clients, yet she excelled at being a tattletale.
With a touch of sarcasm in his voice, he said, “Is she so bored that she has to report everything to you?”
Emily stammered, “It’s not like that. She’s just feeling wronged. Those were the clients I left for her. Shouldn’t she talk about it?”
Lukas’s eyes flickered with disgust, “Emily, since you’ve left, can’t you just leave cleanly? You’ve already left the company. There’s no need to plant a chess piece.”
Emily weakly explained, “I didn’t do that.”
Lukas’s expression turned cold, “Considering our past relationship, I won’t fire Olivia. But don’t make me grow disgusted with you
either.”
Emily’s voice trembled, “Lukas, have you started to hate me?”
Lukas directly hung up the phone.
Lukas listened to Emily’s pitiful tone and inexplicably thought of Skylar’s cold and distant expression. He felt annoyed for some reason and couldn’t help but take out a platinum box, similar in shape to a cigarette case, and took out a peppermint candy from inside. He peeled off the wrapper and put it in his mouth.

As soon as Lukas left, Elias looked at Elena with irritation, “Elena, that’s enough.”

Elena pouted, “What’s wrong with me?”
“Can’t you see that Lukas isn’t interested in you at all? Yet you keep clinging to him. Are you insane? If I weren’t here, he wouldn’t have the patience to deal with you. Do you think he would be polite to you?” Elias’s face turned dark.
Elena disagreed, “That’s not true. When Lukas came just now, he treated me very nicely.”
Elias couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He had never seen anyone so self–deluded and fantasizing like this woman.
He rolled his eyes, “In any case, you better tone it down. If you continue like this when Lukas comes back, he won’t get angry, but I won’t be polite either.”
Elena hadn’t had a chance to refute when suddenly the door of the ward was kicked open.
A sneering voice sounded, “Oh, I’d love to see how you won’t be polite!”
Elias didn’t see the face, but just by hearing the voice, he knew who it was.
He didn’t mince his words, “James, you dare to come to the hospital?”
James walked in with arrogance. “Why wouldn’t I dare? I heard that you crashed into me but ended up in the hospital yourself. I came here out of the goodness of my heart to see you. You should thank me!”
James had a notorious reputation, and Elena couldn’t afford to provoke him, so she shrank to the side and kept quiet.
Elias was so angry that he sat up from the bed, “You animal. If you have the guts, don’t leave. I’ll beat you up when Lukas comes bad
James looked around the ward, “Oh, are you implying that Lukas is going to beat me up? I’m so scared.”
He laughed mockingly, appearing excessively delighted at the misfortune of others.
Elias’s face turned darker, and he glared at James, “You’re an animal indeed. Since we’re both foxes, don’t try to play your mental
gymnastics.”
James retorted, “Well, if we’re both foxes, then aren’t you an animal too?”
Elias didn’t want to waste time arguing and lifted the sheets off the bed, ready to hit James.
James hooked the door with his foot. “Okay, okay, don’t get so worked up. Fighting a disabled patient like me wouldn’t be honorable. When you’re fully recovered, we can fight then.”
James said and smiled, then swung the door shut and left.
Elias cursed loudly in the ward, “You animal! You’re just afraid of getting beaten up by Lukas when he returns. Don’t you have any self–respect?”
Elena had no intention of staying in the ward any longer.
She shrugged, “I’m going to find Lukas.”

After saying that, she left the ward, opened the door, and ran out.
James ignored Elias’s shouting and walked toward the elevator with a disdainful expression.
Just as he reached the elevator doors, they opened.
I walked out carrying dinner.
