When he entered the bathroom, he suddenly remembered that whenever Maggie visited her family in the past, she would always take Isabella along.

The next morning, while having breakfast, Franklin said to Isabella, “The enrollment procedures are

You’ll report to school tomorrow morning.” “I know,” Isabella wrinkled her little nose.
“Dad, can you take me to school tomorrow?” “I might not be free.” “Oh, alright.” Isabella’s eyes darted around before suddenly lighting up. She said cheerfully,
“Then I’ll call Aunt Julia later and ask her to take me to school.”
Before Franklin could respond, his phone rang. It was a call from the family estate. When he answered, it was Franklin’s grandmother’s voice on the other end.
“I heard you’re back in the country?” “Yes.” “Did Bella come back with you?” “She did.” “It’s been so long since I’ve seen Bella, I miss her. Tonight, bring her and Mag over for dinner.” “Understood.”
The elderly lady then asked, “Where’s Mag? Let me talk to her.” “She’s not here.” “How could she not be here at this hour?” “She probably went back to her family.” “Probably? As her husband, you don’t even know where your wife went?”
Franklin remained silent. “You” Grandmother sighed and finally fell silent. At this point, Franklin’s
tone softened slightly, though he changed the subject, “Have you eaten?” “I’m full of anger!”
Franklin gave a small laugh. He continued eating his breakfast methodically. Grandmother knew that this grandson had always had his own mind since childhood.

The current state of his marriage with Maggie was already a major compromise for Franklin. Given his personality, even if it was for his own good, she couldn’t push too hard.
Thinking of this, she sighed, “Tine, this old lady has nothing more to say to you, hmph.” “Mm, see you tonight.” “You – hmph!” Grandmother hung up in frustration.
Isabella hadn’t been paying attention at first, but after catching the latter part of the conversation, she asked curiously, “Dad, who was that?” “Your great–grandmother.”

Great–grandmother had always been good to Isabella, and she loved her great–grandmother too.
Upon hearing this, she happily said, “Great! I haven’t seen great–grandmother in so long, I miss her.” Franklin looked at his phone and made a sound of acknowledgment.
Meanwhile, Maggie was having breakfast at her family home. Seeing Franklin’s incoming call, she paused.
She no longer felt excitement or joy at his calls. After hesitating for two seconds, she answered, “Hello.” “Grandmother wants us to go back for dinner tonight.”
Maggie, “…Alright, I understand.” “Come back and pick up our daughter later.”
Maggie didn’t want to go back to his place anymore, and besides, even if she went to pick up their daughter personally, her daughter might not be happy to see her..
Why put herself through that futile effort? She said, “Let the driver take her there. I’ll drive there myself after work.”
They would be getting off work during rush hour. This arrangement was indeed the most
convenient.
However, when it came to matters concerning Isabella, Maggie had always preferred to handle things personally and enjoyed doing so, never considering it troublesome.
