Being ignored, Chase didn’t pursue the conversation. Gabriel emerged from a nearby parking lot, spotting them and heading towards Ashley. “Morning,” Gabriel said, smiling at Ashley.
“Morning,” Ashley replied, nodding.
Gabriel paused, then casually greeted Chase, “Morning.”
Chase returned the greeting with a smile, “Good morning, Mr. Sterling.”
Chase was here for a partnership. As a key figure at Eternal, Ashley should have been welcoming him enthusiastically. However, Gabriel noticed Ashley had completely ignored Chase. She walked straight past him without offering any hospitality.
Was it because of Chase’s relationship with Tanya?
Gabriel glanced at Chase. Despite Ashley’s cold shoulder, Chase showed no signs of irritation.
Gabriel remained silent. The four of them rode up in the elevator in comfortable silence.
In the elevator, Gabriel stood beside Ashley. Even in flats and minimal makeup, she was strikingly beautiful. Gabriel found himself captivated by her profile. He only looked away when he felt Chase’s gaze upon him.
Chase smiled faintly, saying nothing.
The doors opened. Without a word, Ashley exited the elevator. Gabriel followed her to discuss work matters.
Watching them go, Chase turned his attention to the receptionist who led him to the meeting room..
They waited over ten minutes before Tim arrived. Upon seeing Chase, he offered a perfunctory apology, “Sorry for being late.” His tone was flat, his expression devoid of genuine remorse.
Jackson had worked for Chase for years and had encountered countless high–profile individuals. He’d never witnessed anyone treat Chase with such blatant disregard.
He frowned.
“ & V
Chase, however, didn’t care about it. He shook Tim’s hand, saying, “It’s fine.”
While Tim wasn’t a big fan of Chase, he wanted to conclude their business quickly. Upon sitting down, he got straight to the point and began discussing the details of the collaboration. Though Eternal had already partnered with Speed before, that deal was handled by Chase’s representatives. This was Tim’s first formal collaboration with Chase himself.
At Amanda’s birthday banquet last year, Tim had gleaned Chase’s extensive knowledge of Al during his conversation with Burke, although that conversation had been brief.
This time, their discussion about Sterling Corp’s next–generation chip, its computational and reasoning capabilities, lasted nearly three hours. Tim discovered Chase’s understanding of AI was even deeper than he’d imagined. In other words, Chase was knowledgeable on every aspect.
Tim found himself strangely impressed. Chase was his equal, if not better. It was a little unsettling.
Chase checked his watch.“It’s almost noon. Shall we continue this afternoon?”
Tim mumbled, “…Sure.”
