Seeing Zark walking over, Gabriel frowned. His lips tightened, his gaze instantly hardening.
Ignoring the undercurrent of tension, Zark continued walking towards them. He casually asked Ashley, “What are you two talking about?” Ashley was utterly oblivious to the subtle undercurrents between. She replied, “Work stuff.”
Zark could tell from Ashley’s attitude that Gabriel possessed exceptional professional skills. That was a commonality he and Ashley shared. Plus, Gabriel worked at Eternal and had significantly more opportunities to interact with Ashley.
Zark’s smile faltered.
Before he could speak, Tim joined them. Seeing Gabriel and Zark flanking Ashley, he raised an eyebrow, but didn’t say anything.“It’s quite lively here,” he said.
As soon as Tim said that, Chase and Tanya arrived. “Mr. Reed,” they greeted.
Tim offered a tight–lipped smile.“What can I do for you?”
Chase stated his purpose.“I have a project I’d like to discuss with you. Wondering if you’re interested.”
Sterling Corp’s tech division was a behemoth in the industry, holding countless core technologies and patents. Their upcoming product had already created a buzz internationally.

Chase didn’t give details, but Tim already knew what this project was about. He was undeniably tempted. As two of the country’s top tech firms, they shared the responsibility of elevating domestic innovation onto the global stage. Achieving this required collaboration, a synergistic approach.
Even though Tim disliked Chase, he wouldn’t refuse. And he knew Ashley would agree, too.
“This isn’t the time,” Tim said smoothly.“Let’s schedule a meeting at Eternal tomorrow.”
Chase wasn’t surprised by Tim’s response. “Sounds great,” he said with a smile.
Tim was still slightly irritated. He asked, “Anything else, Mr. Sterling?”
“No,” Chase replied, “Excuse us.”
He turned and left with Tanya, without a glance at Ashley. Tanya, before departing, exchanged a look with Gabriel and Zark. Gabriel quickly averted his eyes. Zark remained silent.
The next day.
Ashley got out of her car and bumped into Chase and his assistant Jackson. She paused, a bit surprised. She knew Chase would be here for the partnership talks, but she hadn’t expected him to come so early.
Chase simply greeted her.“Morning.”
Ashley didn’t respond and walked into Eternal. Since she left Sterling Corp, Jackson had barely seen her. In his memory, she was always clinging to Chase. Her coldness stunned him.
