Chapter 452

Daniel was stunned. “Nothing? Ms. Jones, are you sure?” Chase was incredibly generous and had offered her a fortune she couldn’t spend in a lifetime. Daniel couldn’t understand why she’d walk away from such wealth. Ashley confirmed. “I’m sure, but I have one condition.” She never wanted Chase’s money; his gifts were inconsequential to her. But…
After Emily’s fall and hospitalization, Chase, in gratitude for her visit, had given her 20 million dollars and three luxury villas in her grandmother’s neighborhood. These were included in the divorce settlement. Even with the deeds in her name, until the divorce was finalized, they weren’t truly hers. If she asked for nothing, it meant she’d lose them, and Chase might well gift them to Tanya or the Holdens. The last thing she wanted was the Holdens living right next to her grandmother.
She told Daniel, “I want those three villas, but not as a gift from Chase. I’ll buy them.” Her income now was substantial enough to cover the cost.
Daniel understood. While he thought it a terrible deal for her, her resolve was firm, and he wouldn’t try to talk her out of it.
The situation changed rapidly. Daniel quickly called Chase’s lawyer and told him about Ashley’s terms. About half an hour later, as Ashley was preparing to go out for dinner, Chase called her. Expecting a discussion about the divorce, she answered. “Hello?”
He asked, “Have you

Ashley replied curtly, “No.” She didn’t think they were friends to exchange pleasantries with.“My lawyer should

“Yes,” Chase said. “Since it’s your wish, I agree. But… Grandma would want to know about the changes to our divorce agreement. Can you explain it to her? Once she approves, I’ll handle everything very quickly.” Ashley had anticipated this, given Emily’s care for her.

“During the Lunar New Year.‘
Ashley’s voice sharpened. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
He laughed. “I didn’t expect you to change the agreement.”
