Chapter 437
The Technology and Science Exchange Conference, jointly hosted by the Science and Technology Bureau and other organizations, had been underway for two days. The month–long conference featured nearly two hundred presentations and attracted numerous academicians and experts from the tech and industrial sectors. Eternal was among the invitees.
This afternoon’s session focused on “Advanced Materials,” a field of interest to both Ashley and Tim. After leaving the hospital, Ashley joined Tim, along with several Eternal technicians, at the conference venue.

Ethan saw her as a fair–weather attendee; Tanya, however, simply ignored her. Chase nodded to Ashley before taking his seat in the front row. Tim, catching sight of Chase, merely snorted and pretended not to know him. Chase, however, greeted him proactively. “Mr. Reed.” Tim remained silent. He’d made it clear they weren’t close and didn’t need to exchange pleasantries, but some people just didn’t get the hint. After a few minutes, the conference began. An academician from the Academy of Engineering took the stage, presenting on advanced materials and engaging in a Q&A with the audience.
Given Ashley and Tim’s extensive experience with advanced materials, they recognized many materials mentioned by the academician instantly. They understood their properties, raw materials, and manufacturing processes. Their knowledge base was broad, exceeding that of most attendees. But they were aware that they couldn’t know everything. Therefore, they listened intently to glean new insights. Tanya was focused, too; this rapidly advancing field contained much she’d never encountered. She took notes, planning to research further. Chase sat quietly, seemingly engrossed.
After Mr. Price’s presentation, many attendees eagerly approached him with questions, and he patiently answered them all. Tim joined Ashley to exchange ideas with her.
There were over two hundred people in the hall. Those unfamiliar with Ashley and Tim were drawn in by their conversation. Soon, a crowd gathered. Someone recognized Tim.“That’s Tim Reed, Mr. William Burke’s student! No wonder he knows so much!” More people approached them, eager to ask questions. Tim, while happy to answer basic, non–confidential questions, couldn’t deal with so many people. He directed some to Ashley, mentioning her extensive knowledge.
Within twenty minutes, a substantial crowd surrounded them. Chase, acquainted with Mr. Price, approached him with Tanya. Tanya seized the opportunity to ask a few questions. Mr. Price smiled and said to Chase, “Miss Mond is remarkably knowledgeable for her age. Excellent choice, Chase.”

Professor Linkletter turned to Tanya and Chase, smiling.“So, Tanya, are you Mr. Sterling’s girlfriend? We talked for so long yesterday, yet you didn’t mention it! Very few of the young are as low–key as you. Impressive!”
Tanya smiled politely.“I’m flattered.”
More people joined their conversation. Then, someone remarked, “Mr. Reed is truly impressive; he knows everything! And his stunning companion, Ms. Jones, is just as brilliant!”
Tanya frowned while hearing that. Mr. Price was interested, because he knew Tim. He said to Chase and Professor Linkletter, “I’ll go over there.”
