Seeing Tim and Burke, Jeffery understood why Ashley was here. 

Derek hadn’t expected to run into his son 

Jeffery nodded.“Mm.” 

Edward smiled.“Derek, is this your son?” 

Derek laughed.“Yes.” 

“He looks good.”

Jeffery knew who Edward and Calvin were; he also knew his father had good relations with them. But Edward and Calvin, like Burke, were incredibly busy. Even with his father’s connections, he’d never actually met them. Edward’s friendly greeting prompted him to shake hands with him politely.“I’m flattered,” he said. 

Then he saw Tanya and Mark get out of a car. He froze. Seeing the group of people, Tanya and Mark were equally surprised. Burke and Calvin were not someone you could meet every day. They also saw Ashley and Tim. Tim was Burke’s student, and Eternal’s success was a source of pride for Burke. Introducing Tim to his connections was normal. 

Like Jeffery, they assumed Ashley was there because of Tim. Still, meeting Calvin and Burke was an extraordinary honor. They’d heard about Burke’s extensive network. Seeing the caliber of his associates solidified just how powerful his connections were. 

They also recognized David and Derek–both of them were big shots. Tanya knew this. When Jeffery looked at them, Tanya nodded and smiled. 

Derek followed Jeffery’s gaze. He didn’t recognize Tanya or Mark but, seeing Jeffery’s apparent interest, he asked, “Acquaintances?” 

Jeffery answered, “Mm.” 

Tanya and Mark approached. Tim almost rolled his eyes. Ashley remained impassive. Jeffery introduced, “This is Mr. Mark Mond and his daughter, Tanya Mond.” His demeanor changed when he saw Tanya. 

Derek raised an eyebrow. Tanya was beautiful and elegant, which meant Jeffery had excellent taste. Since Jeffery had made the introduction, he greeted Mark and Tanya politely. David had met Tanya and knew she was Chase’s girlfriend. Seeing her greet Derek, he glanced at Ashley. Ashley stayed calm, but he noticed her expression turn cold upon seeing Mark and Tanya. He knew about Ashley and Chase’s divorce but not the details. Her cold gaze suggested the reason.

greeting Derek, Tanya approached Burke, politely saying, “Mr. 

Burke.” 

Burke gave a curt nod, saying nothing. Thanks to Chase, Tanya learned Burke was cold to everyone, not just her. She didn’t take it personally. After greeting Burke, Tanya politely addressed Calvin and the others. 

Her general greeting was tactful. They hadn’t expressed a desire to meet her, so individual greetings would have been rude. 

Edward and Calvin were focused on Ashley. Like David, they noticed her dislike of Mark and Tanya. Edward had investigated Ashley, so he recognized Tanya and Mark immediately. Giving

Tanya a nod, he then turned to Burke and Ashley, “Let’s go inside.” 

Burke nodded. They entered the restaurant. 

Derek instructed Jeffery,“Don’t drink too much,”

Derek said nothing more. He nodded to Tanya and Mark, and joined Burke and the others. Jeffery stayed behind; Derek’s silence implied he shouldn’t eavesdrop. But why could Ashley go 

with them? 

Jeffery frowned. Without further thought, he turned to Tanya and Mark.“Are you guys here for a business dinner as well?” 

Mark and Tanya nodded.“Yes, and you?” 

“Same.* 

Mark added, “I hear Cooper Corporation has a new project. We’re quite interested. I wonder if we can talk about it…” 

Cooper Corporation did have a new project, but it was still in the planning stages. Mond Corporation, with Chase’s help and Mark’s efforts, was now stable. He was eager to work with bigger company, 

Jeffery nodded.“We can schedule a meeting in a few days.” 

As they chatted, Jeffery’s gaze lingered on Tanya. He had considered telling Tanya about what had happened between Chase and Ashley at the symposium, but he knew it wasn’t appropriate. They weren’t close, and even if he told her, she might not believe him, given her close relationship with Chase. 

He’d also heard about Chase giving Tanya a piece of stock in Speed. He wondered if it was a planned gift or a compensatory gesture. 

Jeffery’s thoughtful gaze seemed to indicate he wanted to talk to Tanya alone. But he didn’t, so Tanya ignored it. She was curious why Burke and the others were there. But if Ashley was included, it couldn’t be anything overly important. 

“Our guests have arrived,” she said with a smile.“We should go.” 

Jeffery said, “Mine too. Let’s go together.”
