Although Steve had discreetly given her the invitations, she knew what was going on. 

Ashley said, “I will.” 

Grandma Rong and Grandma Sterling were good friends. Grandma Sterling should attend, but she was older. According to their customs, those older than the birthday person don’t typically attend. 

Grandma Rong hadn’t had a large party for several years, just a family dinner. Chase hadn’t Attended any of them, initially claiming he was busy. But Ashley knew he’d attend other events. Every year, she’d still ask if he was free to come; every year, she was disappointed. This year, she didn’t want to ask. But this was Grandma’s milestone birthday, with many business partners invited by Steve. Even if she and Chase were divorcing, they had to invite the Sterling family. Whether they came was up to them. 

She’d initially planned to return to her apartment. But she changed her mind, driving to Chase’s villa instead. She discovered that Chase and Sam weren’t home; Grandma Sterling was staying at her own house. 

Ashley put down her bag and went to the bathroom. Half an hour later, she heard a car pull up downstairs. Chase and the others were back. Without emotion, she sat down to dry her hair.
