“Okay.” Chase sat beside her. The matriarch served her food, sighing, “You’ve lost weight again. ake care of yourself.” She glared at Chase, who, without prompting, served Ashley food. ake Ashley:“Thank you.” The matriarch said she brought supplements and would have them prepared for Ashley and Chase. Ashley couldn’t refuse.

The matriarch, having lived in Y City, made excellent soup. After dinner, she supervised the preparation of the supplements. Ashley wanted to help but was pushed out of the kitchen. She sat on the sofa; Sam and Chase were on their phones.
