Chapter 119

Katrina’s POV

I pushed the door to the clinic open, locking it shut behind me immediately

I was scared of being caught by any of Phillip’s men, at least I had to find out the truth now

The moment I turned around, I came face to face with a man in a coat. The doctor

His eyes darkened as he glared at me, his lips pulling into a straight line

What are you doing here?He hissed at me, matching towards me angrily

Well fuck. I needed to do something, Anything to knock him out

But what could I find in a lab? I know if I searched somewhere I’d find a gun, but I didn’t have the time for that

I searched around for something, my eyes falling on a broken pipette lying on the table

I looked between the doctor and the pipette, thinking of the next thing to do

Shouldn’t you be locked up where you belonged?he asked, his brows furrowing

And shouldn’t you be dead?my reply came immediately, and I forced a smile on my face

Well, I can make sure he ends

up

dead

anyways

Instantly, I grabbed the broken pipette, clutching it tightly

When the doctor got closer, he lunged at me and I did the same. I twisted my body to prevent his fingers from touching me, plunging the pipette into his side

The doctor let out a loud scream and I jumped at him once more, stuffing his mouth with his jacket

I have nothing against you, but just sleep?”

I dug my fingers into his hair, slamming his forehead on a table repeatedly

It took a while before his body crumpled to the floor, the initially white table was stained with blood and I winced slightly

Yikes

After making sure he was unconscious and not dead, I turned back to the clock

The clinic was creepily quiet, the sterile scent of antiseptic stinging my nose. I always hated hospitals and the smell of antiseptics and this place seems like it was baptized with that

Closing my nose slightly, my heart pounded as I stepped inside. couldn’t see much there, the curtains were pulled shut and I didn’t want to alert anyone of my presence there

There was no sign of anyoneno guards, no nurses, no movement. And that made it even better. Search and leave

That was my agenda

I was just about to take a step forward when the door handle rattled and I ducked out of the way

Docsomeone called out and my heart raced

Chapter 119

My eyes went to the body on the floor and back to the floor

I didn’t know if to answer or if to reply. It would be suspicious

The sound of my own breathing filled my ears as I moved deeper inside, my gaze scanning every corner for a sign of Silas. The bed in the center of the room was empty, the sheets pulled aut, as though no one had been there. Where else would a dead body be if not on the bed

I wondered, walking to the bed and feeling it. It was cold, meaning Silas was never placed on this bed

But where else would a critically sick man be kept

I was playing the role of some sort of detective and I wasn’t liking it

At that moment, my eyes landed on somethinga tray of medical instruments on the counter, bloodied bandages piled beside it, and my stomach churned at the sight

Silas,I whispered, the name barely audible as it escaped my trembling lips. The only explanation for that was that Silas was here somewhere, but where

spun around as I searched for something and then I spotted a door at the back of the room, slightly ajar

Yes! There

My feet moved on their own, carrying me forward. The air grew colder and heavier with every step and my heart raced. I reached for the door and pushed it open, revealing a smaller room that seemed to be a morgue

My blood ran cold as I saw a figure draped in a white sheet on the metal table

My knees nearly gave out beneath me, but I forced myself to move closer

I had to see for myself, I had to see Silasbody myself

But as the distance between us lessened, I started to see the similarities

No,I whispered, shaking my head. This isn’t real. This can’t be real.”

There’s no way that is Silas

With trembling hands, I reached for the edge of the sheet. My breath hitched as I hesitated, but I had to know. I had to him for myself

I pulled the sheet back slowly, revealing a face beneath

But it wasn’t Silas. It was someone else, another member of the mafia

Relief and confusion flooded me at once, leaving me dizzy. If this wasn’t Silas, then where was he? And why had they lied

They made me believe that Silas had died and I said I loved him

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed outside the room. My heart jumped to my throat, and I quickly replaced the sheet, backing away. I needed to get out before they found me here

But who could it be? I didn’t hear coming in

But before I could reach the door, it swung open, and a shadow stood over me

You shouldn’t be here,a deep, familiar voice growled angrily

1 froze, my eyes wide ast looked up to see him. Silas. Alive

Blood splattered on his shirt, making me wonder if these people had even tried to get him patched up and healed

If yes, what was with the blood patches on his clothes
