Jake squeezed my hand. I saw his
worry and offered a reassuring smile and
motioned him to lower his head. He did,
and I kissed his cheek. Turning away, my
ears flushed.
Grant saw this, feeling conflicted. He
found that I was really happy with Jake.
I accepted Jake, willingly spending
time with him. Unlike my last
relationship, this was a two–way street. I‘

the past.
Wanda, in her heavy dress,
approached. She saw me talking to Jake
intimately. It was like Jake and I were the happy couple getting married.

forced a smile. “Grant, it’s almost time.
You should get ready.”
She pushed his wheelchair, but his
gaze lingered on us.
