(Go far away) Chapter12: The Divorce Papers
Ethan rushed to the lawyer’s office.
The lawyer handed him the divorce papers.

Ethan looked around with anxiety. “Where’s Clara? I need to talk to her!”
“Ms. Anderson didn’t come. She’s authorized us to handle it. Any problems?”
Ethan tore up the papers.“I won’t divorce her!”
He pleaded, “I made a mistake, but who doesn’t? I won’t see Lily again! Isn’t it
enough?”
The lawyer smiled. “Mr. Payne, you know very well that there is more than
one way to get a divorce. Ms. Anderson stated she’d sue if you refused to divorce.”
Ethan was shocked.“She won’t even talk to me?”
The lawyer gave him a copy.“Ms. Anderson saw this coming. She prepared
two copies.”
Ethan tried to tear it, but the lawyer said, “Mr. Payne, no amount of copies
you tear up will change the fact that she wants to divorce you.”
Ethan was defeated. He begged, “Tell me where Clara is.”

Ethan offered five million bucks. The lawyer refused. “I really don’t know
where she is. She has only contacted me by telephone since she left last time.”
“Then give me her number! I’ll still give you the money.”
The lawyer smiled.“That’s her old number, and I’m sure no one is answering.”
Ethan said, “Fine. I won’t sign. Sue me.”
The lawyer explained, “Ms. Anderson doesn’t need to sue you. Separation for
two years is enough for a legal divorce.”
Ethan was stunned.“She can’t be this heartless! We were in love!”
He tried to forget what he had done to Clara. The lawyer said, “That’s the law. If you find her in two years and change her mind, you’ll still be married.”
