Someone had to have been helping her from the inside.
It was Eleanor.
Only she had the kind of power to dismiss everyone and create the perfect chance for Wisteria to strike.
So, all along, she’d never stopped scheming against me.
“Chloe, I see you’re still standing. How lucky you are, huh? After everything that happened, you’re still alive, and now you even have two precious kids,” Wisteria said, her voice dripping with spite.
Kids?
A chill ran down my spine. I suddenly remembered–Eleanor had taken my children away before.
Was she really planning to hurt them now?
“Chloe, don’t worry about your kids. I have one goal, and that’s you. If you don’t want anything to happen to them, you’ll come with me right now.”
“Where are you taking me?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
“Stop asking questions. Just come with me. If you refuse, I’ll start cutting off one of your kids‘ fingers–one by one–until you agree.”
“No!” I interrupted, my voice shaking. “Don’t touch my kids. I’ll
go with you.”
“Good girl,” she said, a cruel smile playing on her lips, satisfied by my response.
She led me out the back door. A car was waiting outside, confirming what I feared–this had all been carefully planned.
But why today? Why my wedding day? Why now?
“Get in!” Wisteria shoved me violently, forcing me into the car.
The driver was a woman who’d worked for the Hudsons, the same one who had likely helped Wisteria
escape.
A cold, sharp knife pressed against my side. My stomach dropped.
This was it.
This was the moment I couldn’t escape.

The last time, Wisteria had been the one to kill me. No matter how many times I came back, it seemed this was always how things ended.
The car sped off, and before long, I realized where we were headed–a cemetery.
She hadn’t killed me when we first met because she was planning to bring me here, to Silas‘ grave, to finish what she had started.
And sure enough, I was right. We pulled up in front of Silas’s tombstone.
His grave had been well taken care of over the past year, cleaned and maintained. Someone had been tending to it regularly.
Wisteria’s voice was as cold as ice. “Kneel.”
“My kids, where are they?” I demanded, my voice tight with a mix of fear and anger.
Wisteria didn’t respond. Instead, she kicked the back of my knee, forcing me to fall to one knee on the cold ground.
I gritted my teeth, refusing to break. “From start to finish, I owe you nothing. It’s you and Silas who owe me a life. You want me to kneel to him? Does Silas deserve that?”
“You still dare to talk back?” Wisteria raised her hand, about to strike me.
I grabbed her wrist, feeling the weakness in her grip. It was as if we were both barely holding on.
It seemed Carter’s blow had done more damage than I realized. Wisteria was only standing because of her sheer determination.
“If it weren’t for you, our child would still be alive!”
“You think they died unfairly? What about me? At least I loved you like a sister. And how did you repay me? Wisteria, I don’t deserve to die–you guys do!”
Before I could finish, the maid grabbed the back of my neck with such brutal force that I stumbled and collapsed to my knees.
She shoved my head down, slamming it hard against Silas‘ gravestone.
The sickening thud echoed in my ears as my skull rang from the impact.
Wisteria approached, a knife gleaming in her hand, her eyes filled with rage. “Chloe, do you know why I hate you so much? If it weren’t for the Sanders, I would’ve had a perfect, happy life. I was once the cherished daughter, treated like a princess. Why you? Why should you–a sinful woman–be loved by everyone?
“I’m going to drag you through the mud, make everyone hate you, look down on you, and insult you. I’ll ruin your reputation, make you filthy, make you ugly.
“But no matter how much I hurt you, you’ve never broken. It’s not fair!”
Her face twisted in obsession. “The Carlyns have fallen, and my life’s been nothing but turmoil. Chloe, I’ve wanted to die for so long, but before I go, I’ll drag you to hell with me!”
“You’re crazy!” I spat, my heart racing.

Wisteria gripped the dagger tightly and took slow, deliberate steps toward me. “Sorry for ruining your wedding, but you’ve been hiding for so long. It wasn’t intentional.”
“Wisteria, please, calm down! I’m just like you–a victim. The Sanders have already paid for their sins. You were a mother once too. If I die, my children will be motherless.” I begged, desperately trying to reason with
her.
I tried to bring her back to reality. “You brought this upon yourself. I never wronged you. Don’t you remember when you first came to the Boltons? Who was there for you?”
Back then, Sheila had brought her into the Bolton household. I didn’t even know her true identity, and I never held a grudge against her for trying to get Luke’s attention.
I had heard that she and Sheila had gone through some tough times. So I looked after her–this young girl who seemed lost.
Maybe it was all just a façade. She had once smiled sweetly, calling me her sister.
We shared a brief bond, though it didn’t last. She soon showed her true colors, hurting me over and over, but I never fought back.
I thought she was just a girl looking for safety, craving attention in her own way.
“But Wisteria, what did I do to deserve this? Why are you doing this to me?”
Her eyes welled with tears as she looked at me, her voice shaking with emotion. “If only you weren’t Chloe… If only the Carlyns and the Sanders hadn’t been doomed from the beginning! I’m going to avenge Silas and the child.”
“Chloe, I’ll make it quick. It won’t hurt for long. Just come with me.” She said, her grip on the dagger tightening.
She had completely lost touch with reality.
I leaned back against Silas‘ gravestone, shaking my head slowly. “No … ”
Tears streamed from her eyes as she raised the knife, aiming straight for my heart.
In the final moment, a hand shot out, grabbing the blade.
Splurt!
Blood splattered across my face.
