Fenny’s face turned pale. “So you’re doing this on purpose? You knew Ponto Spencer was going to go bankrupt, which is why you rushed to divorce him and let him marry me?”
I shook my head, ready to speak, but Fenny interrupted as her mind caught up with the situation.
“I get it now. You’re deliberately deceiving me. Ponto told me his company secured a huge investment of over five billion last month. The funds are expected to arrive next month. How could he possibly go bankrupt?”
“Stop trying to take credit for what you didn’t do.”
hrugged nonchalantly. “We’ll see. Just wait.”
With that, I left the small
nall villa where I had lived for a year and returned to my large family estate.
Once home, I quickly briefed my parents and brothers on the situation. They were furious.
“That’s Ponto Spencer for you He’s
forgotten who he is?”
“I married him because he was handsome and talented, but he’s already changed so much.”
“Well, it looks like the Spencer Group is going under.”
“All because of that patent. How could we let Yuri marry that kind of scum?”
They went on and on, their words making me laugh. Fenny was right about one thing, though–Ponto Spencer had indeed secured an investment for
his company.
But what she didn’t know was that it was our family’s money that financed it!
The main reason I married him wasn’t love. My temper was difficult, and no one from my level of society dared to marry me. But also, Ponto Spencer had a patent my father and brothers were very interested in.
For families like ours, it didn’t matter whom we married, as long as the resources were useful. And Ponto was tall, handsome, and not at all a bad deal.
Hut now that the patent had been shared, there was no impact on our family even if I divorced him.
Seeing my brothers start to call and withdraw our investments, I couldn’t help but smile. The show was just beginning
