Love Storys–Chapter 1
Love StoryS–Chapter 1
Upon returning home, holding the ticket and James’s diagnosis with mixed emotions, I opened the door to find him and his mother, Yuri Smith. happily chatting with a strange woman. On the table were cherries–the kind of expensive, top tier cherries we could never afford to buy
“James, Mom, who is this?” I asked, my brow furrowing in confusion
James was interrupted by my question and looked up, visibly irritated. He didn’t answer me but glanced at the wall clock
“Why are you home an hour later he snapped. “Your office is just a 30–minute walk from here. Where have you been? Didn’t you know Mom and I were waiting for you to cook?”
enched my fists, telling myself: This isn’t the real James. This is just the effect of his liver cancer.
Seeing me silent, Yuri rolled her eyes.
I your mom and husband are hungry, but instead ask who this woman is? I’ll tell you straight–this is my future
“You come home and don’t even ask if your daughter–in–law!
1 was even more confused now. James’s father had passed away from cancer when he was in high school. Yuri had never remarried. Where was this new son in law coming from?
The strange woman smiled awkwardly and walked up to me.
“Hello, I’m Linda White, a friend and colleague of James’s.”
James stood up and pulled Linda White into his arms
“Linda and I are truly in love,” he said. “Honestly, I never planned on divorcing you, but Linda is such a kind–hearted person. She feels guilty about dragging you down, so she thinks it’s better to just tell you the truth. We should part ways amicably.”
“But don’t blame Linda for this. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for not being attractive enough to keep my love.”
