Chapter 72

SilasIMy voice cracked, barely a whisper, but I could see the panic in his eyes as he leaned over

  1. me

His face was a mixture of fear and anger, his eyes wide with the realization that I might be slipping

away

Don’t talk, just stay with me,Silas urged, his hands trembling as he tried to stop the blood from flowing

I’m not going to let you die. Not like this.”

SilasI…” My breath hitched, and I could feel my vision fading

The darkness was pulling me down. It’stoo much. Too much pain”

Shh, don’t say that,Silas insisted, his voice breaking, but he wasn’t going to give up

He wasn’t going to lose me. I’m calling for help. I won’t let you die here, Lorelei. I swear it.”

I wanted to tell him that it was too late, that the darkness was already creeping in and swallowing

me whole, but the words wouldn’t come

My body was failing me. My eyes closed as I felt myself drifting away, but just before I lost myself completely, I saw him

Branwen

He appeared from nowhere, his face drawn and tense, his eyes wide with horror

He seemed to glide towards me, his presence like a sudden gust of wind. He barely glanced at Silas

as he knelt beside me

Before I could even blink, Branwen was pulling me from Silas’s grasp

No! Branwen!Silas’s voice was a mixture of disbelief and desperation. She needs help! You can’t”

I don’t care what you think, Silas. Move!Branwen’s voice was cold, sharp, and filled with urgency

It was clear he wasn’t going to waste time arguing. His tone left no room for hesitation

Chapter 72

His men immediately stepped forward, grabbing Silas and pushing him back to make way. I could hear their fast footsteps as they quickly moved into position

The air was thick with panic, and everything felt rushed. Branwen wasn’t waiting around he was

determined to get me to safety as fast as possible

PleasenoI whispered weakly, barely able to protest, but Branwen didn’t listen

His arms were already wrapping around me, lifting me gently but firmly, cradling me to his chest

I’m not letting you die,Branwen whispered, his voice filled with strong emotion

His words were soft but full of fear, and I could hear the trembling in his breath

It was clear that he was scared, maybe more than I had ever seen him. You’re my mate, Lorelei

You belong to me. I won’t let you go, not like this. I can’t lose you.His voice cracked, showing how much he cared, how deeply he felt for me

I could feel his arms tightening around me as if he was afraid I might slip away if he wasn’t careful

Mate. The word struck me like a lightning bolt, and for the first time, everything made sense

The strange connection I had felt with Branwen, the inexplicable pull that had been there since the beginningit was because we were meant to be together. We were mates

I wanted to tell him I understood, to tell him I wasn’t going to leave him, but the words never came. Instead, I reached out with trembling fingers and gently touched his cheek

His skin was warm under my touch, and I could feel the rush of emotions flooding through me

I wanted to say so many things, but there was only one thought in my mind

If I don’t make itplease, take care of Joan and Joy for me,I whispered, my voice weak and barely

audible

Branwen’s eyes filled with tears, his grip tightening on the steering wheel. No, Luna. Don’t say that.

You’re not going anywhere. We’re going to make it to the hospital, and you’re going to be fine. I won’t let anything happen to you.”

I wanted to believe him. I really did. But as my eyelids grew heavy, I knew that the darkness was pulling me away, and I had no choice but to let go

Chapter 72

The last thing I heard before I lost consciousness was Branwen’s desperate voice. Please don’t have

  1. me. I need you,”

When I woke up again, everything was different. My body felt heavy, like it was weighed down by invisible chains, but the painit was gone

The numbness in my chest was a welcome relief, though I knew I had been through something

terrible

My eyes fluttered open, and I found myself in a dimly lit room. The smell of antiseptic and sterile air hit me first, and I realized with a start that I was in a hospital

My heart raced as I tried to sit up, but my body protested, too weak and too tired to move

It was then that I noticed him

Branwen was sitting beside my bed, his head resting on his arms, his face drawn with exhaustion. His hair was disheveled, and his clothes were wrinkled, as though he hadn’t moved in hours
