The members were confused and uneasy after all the chaos, so I made it my duty to restore a sense of calm. It wasn’t hard for me.

I glanced at him, making sure to hide my discomfort, and spoke softly. “I know, Silas. But right now, there’s nothing I can do about it.”
I paused, letting the words settle before continuing. “This is the only place where you’re safe.”
My voice lowered slightly, adding a sense of urgency.
“If anyone found you…” I let the sentence hang in the air, letting the unspoken fear linger between us.
The consequences of discovery were too terrible to say aloud.
Silas ran a hand through his messy hair, his fingers tangling in the knots. His gaze lifted to meet mine, and in his eyes, I saw nothing but exhaustion and helplessness.

“The smell, the darkness, the loneliness, it’s driving me crazy. I feel like I’m losing my mind.”
I knelt down to his level, making sure my face looked soft and full of concern.
