The messages I received lately were very satisfying, and they always brightened my day,
Branwen had sent some of our most trusted people to keep an eye on Lena after she was thrown out of the pack.
Their updates were detailed and consistent, and they never failed to bring good news. Lena, who used to act so proud and untouchable, was now struggling to survive.
Each message painted a picture of her misery–how hard her life had become without the pack to support her.
Every word made me feel a sense of triumph. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I thought about how far she had fallen.
She was finally facing the consequences of her actions, and it gave me a deep sense of satisfaction.
“Lena’s struggling,” one message had read. “She’s living alone with Billy, and it’s not going well.”
Good. That’s exactly what she deserved after all her arrogance in Snowtooth Pack.
The latest news made me even happier. Billy had fallen sick, and Lena was desperately searching for a way to help him.
“Let’s use this,” I told Branwen. “Tell our people to let her know I can save Billy… if she comes to me and begs.”
Branwen raised an eyebrow. “You really think she’ll beg?”
I smirked. “She loves that boy too much. She’ll do anything for him.”
And I was right.
One night, I was in my office, going over some wedding plans Silas and I had discussed. My assistant came in, looking nervous.
“Miss Lorelei, she’s here,” he said. “Lena.”
I sat up straight, my heart racing with triumph. “Bring her in.”
A moment later, Lena walked into my office, holding Billy tightly in her arms.
She looked completely different from the strong, confident woman I remembered. Her face was pale, almost colorless, and her eyes were red and paffy,
as if she had been crying for hours.
There were dark circles under her eyes, and she seemed exhausted, like she hadn’t slept in days.
Her shoulders were slumped, and her whole body seemed smaller, weaker. This wasn’t the proud Lena who used to walk tall as a leader in the
Snowtooth Pack.
Instead, she looked broken, desperate, and completely defeated. It was clear that life had been very hard for her.
fell to her knees in front of me, still clutching Billy. Her voice shook as she spoke. “Lorelei… please. Help him.”
I leaned back in my chair, pretending to think. “Why should I?”
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked up at me. “I’ll do anything. Just save him.”
I smiled. That’s what I wanted to hear. “Fine. I’ll make sure Billy gets the best care. But you’ll have to work for me.”
Lena nodded quickly. “Yes, anything. Just help him.”
I stood and walked over to her, looking down at her pitiful figure. “Good. But let me be clear. This isn’t some desk job. You’ll be cleaning. Toilets, floors, whatever I say.”
Her head shot up, and I saw a flash of anger in her eyes. “What? I was a leader in the pack-”
“Not anymore,” I interrupted. “You’re nothing now. Take it or leave it. But if you leave, don’t expect Billy to get better.”

She hesitated for a long moment, and I could see her jaw clench tightly. Her hands gripped Billy as if holding onto him would give her strength.
I watched her face carefully and could tell she was struggling. It was like a war was happening inside her.
On one side was her pride, the part of her that didn’t want to give in or let me win.
On the other side was her love for Billy, the only person she truly cared about.
I knew she didn’t want to do this, but she didn’t have a choice. Slowly, she lowered her head, her shoulders sagging as if the fight had drained her.
Her voice was soft and defeated when she finally spoke. “I’ll do it,” she said, barely above a whisper. I smiled to myself, knowing I had won.
“Good.”
next day, I made sure Lena started her new job right away. When I saw her in the cleaner’s uniform, I couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across my face.
She wore a plain outfit, with a cap and a mask that hid most of her face. It was a far cry from the proud and confident image she used to have.
Watching her like this was even more satisfying than I had imagined. She didn’t look like a leader anymore–she looked like someone who had no choice but to obey.
The people she used to look down on now stood over her, giving her orders and watching her every move. “Scrub that corner again,” I heard one of them say sharply. “It’s not clean enough.”
Lena didn’t argue. She bent down and started scrubbing harder, her movements stiff and angry.
She hated every second of it, and I could tell, but she couldn’t say a word.
Seeing her work so hard, doing the kind of job she probably never thought she’d do, gave me a deep sense of satisfaction.
One of my managers, Susan, reported to me later that day. “She’s doing the work, but she’s not happy about it,” Susan said, a smirk on her face.
“She doesn’t have to be happy,” I replied. “She just has to obey.”
