She looked thin and frail, her once vibrant complexion now pale and dull.
Her eyes burned with hatred as they landed on me, and before I could react, she lunged forward, her hands restrained by cuffs.
“You!” she spat, her voice filled with venom. “You think you can take my place?”
Silas stepped between us, his voice cold and commanding. “Enough, Lena,” he said sharply. “If you don’t cooperate, you’ll be sent back to your cell immediately.”
Lena froze, her defiance faltering under Silas’s glare. She lowered her head, her shoulders slumping in defeat. “Fine,” she muttered.
Asve sat down to go over the Luna’s duties, Lena’s demeanor was subdued, though I could feel the hatred simmering beneath the surface.
She handed me the Luna’s key and several documents, her voice flat as she explained their significance.
Silas remained by my side the entire time, his presence a silent warning to Lena.
Despite her bitterness, she complied, though her hands trembled as she passed me the final set of papers.
“Is that everything?” Silas asked, his tone sharp.
“Yes,” Lena replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Silas nodded, his expression stern. “Good. You’ll remain under watch until the handover is complete. Don’t give me a reason to send you back.”
Lena said nothing, her gaze fixed on the floor.
As we left the detention center, I couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of satisfaction. Watching Lena’s defeat, knowing she was powerless to stop me,
was a small but significant victory.
But as we drove away, Silas’s voice broke the silence. “Are you sure about this, Lorelei?” he asked, his tone soft.
I turned to him, my expression calm. “I’ve never been more sure of anything,” I said.
Silas nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. “Then we’ll make this work. Together.”
I leaned back in my seat, my mind already racing with plans. The road ahead was dangerous, but I was ready for it. This was my chance to reclaim everything I had lost–and I wouldn’t let anything or anyone stand in my way.
Silas had invited me to move into the Alpha Palace, and though my heart wavered, I agreed.
I had a mission to fulfill, and going back meant placing myself in his territory–under his watchful eye.
It wasn’t easy, knowing what this decision might cost me, but my daughters and my purpose were my priorities.
As I packed my things that morning, memories of the palace tugged at the corners of my mind.
It had been five years since I’d left that place, or more accurately, since I’d “died.” Back then, the palace had been my home.
But now, I was returning under a new identity. Silas didn’t know who I truly was, and I planned to keep it that way–for as long as I could.
When I arrived at the Alpha Palace, the sheer size of it overwhelmed me. Its tall, commanding walls seemed colder and less inviting than I remembered.
Once, I’d felt at ease walking through its grand halls. Now, it felt like walking into a trap.
The staff opened the grand double doors for me, bowing slightly as I stepped inside.

“I’ve had a room prepared for you,” he said, motioning toward the staircase,
I paused. “A room?”
He nodded. “It used to be Lena’s, but I’ve had her things cleared out. It’s yours now,”
The words made my breath hitch. My chest tightened as the truth settled over me,

The room looked almost identical to how I had left it. The bed, the curtains, even the little side table were the same.
For a moment, I felt like I’d stepped back in time. But the air in the room felt different, Cold. Unwelcoming
“You didn’t have to clear out Lena’s things,” I said softly, glancing around.
“It’s fine,” Silas replied. “You’ll need the space.”
