Chapter 29

Lorelei! Please, just hear me out! I’m not leaving until you talk to me!”

I sighed, torn between my anger and the part of me that still cared for him. Against my better judgment, I grabbed an umbrella and headed downstairs

When I stepped outside, the cold rain immediately soaked through my shoes. Silas turned to me, relief flooding his face despite his shivering frame

Lorelei,he began, but before he could say more, headlights cut through the darkness. A car sped down the street, its tires skidding on the slick

pavement

My heart dropped as I realized it was heading straight for Silas, who was too focused on me to notice

Silas, watch out!I screamed, running toward him. With all my strength, I yanked him out of the car’s path just in time

both tumbled onto the wet pavement as the car sped past, oblivious to the near accident it had caused

Silas looked at me in shock, his breathing heavy. You saved me,he said softly, his voice filled with gratitude

I pushed myself up, brushing the wet hair out of my face. What were you thinking, standing in the middle of the road like that? You could have been killed!”

I didn’t care,he admitted. All I could think about was making things right with you.”

Chapter 30

The rain poured relentlessly, soaking everything in its path. Silas and I stood under its cold embrace, the chill biting into our skin

His eyes held a mix of emotionsconfusion, gratitude, and something softer I couldn’t quite place. The heaviness of the moment pressed down on us, but when Silas reached out and pulled me into a hug, the world seemed to melt away

His warmth, even in the rain, seeped into me, and for the first time, the icy wall between us began to crumble

Thank you,he whispered, his voice muffled against my

shoulder

I didn’t respond with words. I just grasped him tightly, making him think that I had forgiven him, but this was only for the sake of my next plan

After a few moments, Silas pulled back slightly and looked at me. II should probably head back with you.”

I stiffened at his suggestion. The thought of Silas coming to my home, where my brother Branwen was, felt too risky

Branwen was sharp and perceptive; he’d ask too many questions. I shook my head, forcing a smile. My brother’s at home. It’s not a good idea. Let’s go to a hotel instead.”

Silas hesitated but nodded. Alright. Lead the way.”

The hotel room was simple but clean, its beige walls and muted décor offering a temporary refuge from the storm outside. Silas was soaked to the bone, his clothes clinging to his skin

He shivered slightly, running a hand through his wet hair. I need to shower,he said, heading to the bathroom without waiting for my response

I watched him disappear behind the door, my mind racing with the plan I had pieced together. It was a risky move, but the thought of provoking Lena sent a thrill coursing through me

I quickly retrieved the vial from my baga harmless sedative, just enough to knock him out for a whileand poured it into the water bottle I’d left on

the table

The sound of running water stopped, and a few minutes later, Silas emerged from the bathroom, a towel draped over his shoulders and his damp hair

tousled

He looked at me, his expression softening. Thanks for bringing me here,he said

I nodded, handing him the water bottle. Drink some hot water. It’ll warm you up.”

He took the bottle without suspicion, downing half of it in one go. You’re right. This helps.”

A few minutes later, his eyelids began to droop, and he swayed slightly

Ifeelweird,he murmured before collapsing onto the bed

I worked quickly, dragging his limp form onto the mattress and arranging him as if he’d simply fallen asleep

My hands trembled as I undressed him, carefully removing his shirt and pants

His body was lean and muscular, his breathing steady. I paused for a moment, guilt flickering in my chest, but I shoved it aside. This wasn’t about

himit was about Lena

I took out my phone and snapped several photos, making sure the angles were just suggestive enough to imply intimacy

After that, I placed a set of lingerie on the bedside table, arranging it carefully to look like it had been discarded in haste. Satisfied with the scene, I composed a text to Lena

Come to the hotel room. Your precious Silas needs you. ;)”

As I made my way to the lobby, a smug smile played on my lips

Everything was falling into place. But just as I reached the bottom of the stairs, I collided with someone rushing past
