I kept my voice steady as I replied, “I saw the video on the forum, Silas, Billy was bullying another student.
I can’t risk my daughters being around someone like that. I’ve thought it over, and leaving seems like the safest option.”
The line was silent for a moment before Silas spoke again, his voice softer but still filled with urgency,
“Rowena, please. Billy may be my son in name, but we’re not related by blood, I promise Ill handle this. Let me fix things, and 111 make sure this doesn’t happen again. Just trust me.”
I could hear the desperation in his voice, but it didn’t sway me. I had already made up my mind.
sorry, Silas, but this is what’s best for my daughters. I can’t allow them to be around Billy anymore. This is the only way.”
Before he could argue further, I ended the call. A satisfied smile crept onto my face. I had made my point, and now Silas knew I wasn’t someone who could be pushed around.
That evening, when Joanne and Joey came home from school, they were in high spirits. They were excited to tell me what had happened at school.
“Guess what, Mom!” Joanne said, practically jumping up and down. “Billy got taken away by the Alpha! He’s grounded for the day and won’t be coming
to school for a while!”
Joey chimed in, her face beaming with relief. “The Alpha said Billy had to stay home and reflect on his actions. He’s not allowed to come back to school
until he learns his lesson.”
I smiled, glad to hear that my daughters were safe and that Billy had finally been held accountable. The last thing I wanted was for them to live in
fear. Now, I could breathe a little easier.
With the bullying situation under control, I turned my focus back to work.
Branwen had successfully set up a branch of our business in the Snowy Pack to trade health products, and he had asked me to run it. It was a big responsibility, but I was ready for the challenge.
My life had taken many unexpected turns, but I was determined to make the most of it.
One day, as I sat at my desk going over some business documents, my assistant knocked on the door and entered.
“There’s someone here to see you,” he said. “She says her name is Lena, and she’s the Luna from Snowtooth Pack. Apparently, she found out about the contract with Silas and has come to speak with you.”
I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of annoyance.
Lena’s sudden visit wasn’t a surprise–she had always been possessive and stubborn. She probably thought she could force me to back out of my contract with Silas. But I wasn’t going to let her have her way.
“Let her in,” I said, my voice calm but firm.
Lena POV:
I hadn’t expected Silas to take the healthcare project to someone else for contracting. After all, it had always been given to me.
Every year, without fail, it was my responsibility to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
I handled the logistics, the meetings, the fine details. It was my project, my expertise. So, when I found out that Silas had given it away, it felt like a slap in the face. And not just to anyone–but to another company altogether.
The betrayal was sharp, but what made it worse was Billy’s mistake at school. Silas had taken him home to reflect on it. It was a minor issue, something that could have been handled differently, but Silas’s mood had been sour lately, and his actions reflected that.
So there I was, fuming and restless, when I decided to go down to the company that had “stolen” my project.
I wanted answers. I needed to know who had the audacity to take what was rightfully mine. I’d never even heard of this company before, but now it loomed in my mind like a villain, a shadowy figure that had disrupted everything I’d worked so hard for.

When I arrived, I was directed downstairs to meet their Managing Director. I wasn’t familiar with the layout, but I moved with purpose, a tightness in my chest as the elevator descended.
The doors opened, and I was led to an office. My heels clicked sharply against the floor, each step an expression of my frustration. As I reached the office door, I took a breath and knocked.
“Come in,” came a voice from the other side. There was something about it, something faintly familiar, but I couldn’t place it. I shook the feeling off and opened the door.
As soon as I saw who was sitting in that office chair, my breath caught in my throat. My heart raced, and for a moment, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
“Rowena?” I whispered, the name slipping out of my mouth before I could stop it.
hands trembled, and I grabbed the back of the chair to steady myself. It couldn’t be… Rowena was dead.
She clearly died three years ago along with her two daughters. I’d grieved for her. And yet, here she was, sitting in front of me, very much alive.
I moved toward her without thinking, pulling her up from the chair.
My hands roved over her arms and shoulders, searching for some sign that she was real. “Rowena!” I gasped, my voice breaking. “How are you here? How are you alive?”
