Chapter 8
The truth hit Ashley and the other parents like a physical blow. Horror spread across their faces as they realized what they’d done.
Blair looked livid. He slowly got up and turned to his men. With a small gesture of his head, the men made their way to Ashley and surrounding
parents..
“Hey!” Ashley yelled in protest as the men grabbed her, preventing her from moving.
One of them grabbed the stick they’d used to beat me up. Before anyone could react, they began beating the hell out of them.
“Jack.” Ashley cried out, just as they hit her across the face again.
Jack shoved Blair against the chest, a look of anger in his eyes. “Why do you want to hurt an innocent and kind girl like Ashley? Let’s just apologize to Melanie and that’ll be enough!”
“Innocent and kind? ” One of the men stepped forward.
He had glasses on as he went through his computer. He handed it to Jack who began going through it. The farther down he went, the less his face became grin.
The man began to speak. “Ashley here used to be a prostitute. In university, when she saw that her grades weren’t even up to mediocre level, she bribed the president of the university in order to get her degree. That was what she used to get into Shadow Pack.”
Jack had a look of horror on his face. He was finding it hard to keep up with all the new information he was hearing. He turned to Ashley in disgust. It was hard to deny all the information he’d just heard and seen.
Ashley was shaking her head, as tears flowed freely down her cheeks. Unbelievable. It was hard believing all I was hearing. The man I once loved betrayed me because of a prostitute? That’s ridiculous!
I coughed out some more blood. It felt like my lungs were on fire. Everything was starting to feel woozy and I was getting the bad feeling that I was going to pass out.
“We don’t have time for this. We have to get to a hospital for treatment.” Blair sighed, making his way back to me.
Before I could even protest, he swooped me off the ground, carrying me bridal style. All my body hurt so bad, I wanted to cry.
“Wait.” Jack protested, trying to stop Blair.
The man with glasses held a hand to stop Jack. “If I were you, I will immediately ask the police to take control of the people who hurt Melanie and deal with them severely. In the meantime, I suggest that you investigate as soon as possible who instructed this stupid woman to do what she did today, so that you may be able to alleviate the anger of Melanie’s brothers.”
Without another word, we left the academy with the men leading me to the helicopter. I got a final glimpse of Jack’s defeated face. I found myself unable to say anything as they shut the door and made sure I was strapped in.
I pondered on what the man with glasses had said. Ashley couldn’t have planned all this herself. There was someone else in the game.
Someone with far more dangerous than I could imagine
My head was spinning as I tried to make sense of everything that was happening. My daughter fell asleep in Blair’s arms. He cleaned my daughter’s wound briefly.
I was in deep thought: all of my parents had passed away, and now I was the only one left in the family, me and my five brothers. My brothers regard me and my daughter as their most prized possessions and shudder to think what they would do if they knew what happened today …….
“Melanie.”
Blair’s voice brought me out of my thoughts. I turned to look at him. He had a look of concern on his face as he stared at me.‘
I opened my mouth to speak but all that came out was a groan of pain. My whole body felt like it had been dipped in fire. Everything hurt so bad.
“We’ll be at the hospital soon. It won’t take too long.” Blair said reassuringly.

I nodded my head at his words. I turned my face to the side, staring at the clouds. I’d never been in a helicopter before. Letting out a breath, I turned back to him.
“You told my brother all this?” I asked.
I was a little worried, all five of my brothers are very busy and I didn’t want them to be distracted by what I was doing.
“Yes.” He said with a small smile.“Actually, it is Master Olavir who found all of these.”
“He had just turned on the live streaming software at the hospital and was about to give a general medical science talk, but your live stream appeared on the home page, and we surmised your location based on the buildings around you.”
Emma exclaimed in surprise, “Blair, you’re really smart. Uncle Bill is stupid, he’s slow.”
“I-
is my lawyer and he was just late because of the traffic jam.
Whatever I was going to say was replaced by another groan of pain. Blair’s face tightened as he realized how much pain I was in.
“You don’t need to say anything more, princess. Let’s focus on getting you some medical attention first.”
