Chapter 65
I slowly backed away, keeping a safe distance between both of us.
“Alright.”
We both turned to Hart at the same time. The five minutes were up and he was letting us know that. We both made our way closer to his computer.
Hart pulled up the address for us to take a look. I’d barely finished reading through it when a look of panic washed over his face.
Without another word, he snapped the computer shut. Quentin sent him an inquisitive look, his signature coldness
“I don’t understand. It was supposed to pull up their address.” Hart said, his voice high from panic.
“What’s going on, Hart?” Quentin moved closer to the tin.
“That was my address on the screen,” Hart said, his face contorted in anger. “Someone leaked it and I don’t even know how they managed to do it.”
I looked around the room innocently before turning back to him. “And yet no one else has been out
of this room.”
“No one…” Hart’s voice trailed off for a while before his eyes widened. “That woman that came in here. She was the only other person I noticed.”
“Claire.” Quentin muttered under his breath.
“It must have been her.” Hart’s hands tightened into fists by his side.
For a while, Quentin remained silent and didn’t say anything. I could tell he was silently pondering Hart’s words and trying to reason if it was truly Claire that was behind this.
His eyes flicked to me and I held my breath. Ocean blue eyes stared back into mine and I could immediately feel my heart thundering hard against my chest.
Staring at him now, he looked somewhat different from the man I’d known those years ago. He looked somewhat different, changed in a way.
His eyes were like the deepest depths of the ocean, one that could end up consuming you if you

ventured too close.
And yet for some odd reason, I couldn’t afford to look away.
On another end, his eyes glinted into something else. The look of danger had washed over his eyes once again. There was something about that glint nestled in them that made me nervous.
Without another word, he fished out his phone from his pocket and sent a quick text message. Not a moment later, a man walked into the conference room.
The first thing he did was bow to Quentin who barely even responded to it. His eyes were focused on something else entirely. Whatever it was, he did not look the slightest bit happy.
“Kindly bring Claire to me now.” He instructed coldly.
I simply watched it, a disinterested look in my eyes. Deep down, I couldn’t help the nerves slowly eating at me.
It was weird hearing that characteristic coldness back in his tone again. It was a deep contrast to the softness that had been there just a moment ago.
Quentin’s gaze was still on me for me, never wavering for the slightest second. Quentin was an incredibly smart man, sharp and intelligent among others. He stood in a league of his own and undoubtedly so too.
If he were to ask me about Ghost Pack and if I was the Alpha, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to confidently fool him and throw him off track. Quentin would find a way of tracing it back to me and when he did, I didn’t want to think about the aftermath of it.
“When you said you were watching, did that include this?” He asked, a dangerous glint in his eyes.
My body stiffened as Hart got out of his seat and made his way to Quentin. There was a weird look in his eyes as he stood before Quentin.
“What does this have to do about this beautiful lady? My skills failed us. It wasn’t strong enough.” He let out a breath.
The dangerous glint in Quentin’s eyes slowly reduced. For a brief second, I noticed how they softened just a little.
Without realizing, a sigh of relief left my lips. I turned to Hart in disbelief, wondering why he was helping me.
I had no past affiliations with him neither did he have a single reason to defend me, yet he had done

e exact that.
Then his gaze shifted to me. I remained rooted in where I stood, unsure of what to do or whether to
even move.
Hart slowly made his way towards me, his eyes never once wavering as he did. Slowly, a small smile crept on to his face.
“I don’t believe I’ve introduced myself to you. My name’s Hart. I’ll be eighteen soon enough and by then, I’ll have my own wolf and I can choose my mate as well. I was hoping my mate can be you.”
