Chapter 64
Hart fixed me an amused glance, making a point of chewing his gum loudly. I remained silent as he blew a large bubble of gum, the proceeding pop making all of it splatter to his face.
“I don’t want that woman recognizing any of my accomplishments.” He scoffed before pulling the gum off his lips.
I tapped my foot on the floor, trying to control all the nervous energy in my body. My wolf could decide to rear its head at any moment and that was the last thing I wanted to happen here.
About three minutes later, I felt Jane calling for me using the mind link. When I turned to her, her head had barely popped past the door frame.
She sent me a small nod, lightly tapping at her computer. I sent her a small smile before turning away and focusing back on the all–too confident Hart.
Quentin was watching me carefully, an amused look in his eyes. He got out of his seat and slowly made his way towards me.
I remained perfectly still, every single step he took towards me careful and calculated. He stopped just a small distance behind me.
I was all too aware of his presence behind me, the warmth of his breath fanning against my neck as he leaned down to my ears.
“You ready to watch the hilarity that’s going to play out in two minutes?” He asked.
His voice was low and sexy, having the effect Quentin had probably been aiming for. I turned to him, fixing him with an amused stare.
Even now, with so many things weighing down on his mind, he still managed to look so handsome. His eyes glinted with a certain emotion I couldn’t quite put my finger on. From the light stubble on his chin to his jawline that looked like it had been chiselled by the Moon God himself.
Without another word, I pulled on his tie, bringing him closer to me. The corner of his lips tugged into a smile as he stared at me.
I leaned closer to his ear, aware of how his body suddenly seemed even warmer all of a sudden. A small breath left my lips before I finally spoke.
“There’s more than one.”

Chapter 64
Quentin opened his mouth to speak but he was cut off by the door being pushed open. I dared to look away from Quentin and saw it was Claire.
By the angle she’d been standing from, it must have looked like I was kissing him. Her face reddened
to the colour of a tomato as she broke down.
“What the hell?!”
Quentin turned to Claire just as she’d screamed. His eyes narrowed down into slits as he glared at
her. He did not look the slightest bit pleased by the words that had left her mouth.
“What’s the meaning of this?” He asked, the coldness in his tone capable of freezing the room.
She paled just a little, her focus moving away from me and back to her boss. It was comical how I
always found myself in this situations, with her on the receiving end of Quentin’s anger.
“I–I…Well, I w-”
“The fact that you barged into my meeting room so rudely should be enough basis to give you a
query.” He sent her a glare.
Claire looked like she had seen a ghost with how pale she had gone. Her face reddened with
embarrassment as she stumbled over her apology.
“Get out.” Quentin turned away from her.
She bowed her head in embarrassment before hurrying out of the room. If the situation weren’t so
serious, I would have let out a small laugh.
But I had to maintain the composure I had. Quentin was still staring at the door she’d left through, a
look of annoyance on his face.
I let out a small whistle, watching as his head snapped to me almost immediately. There was a look
in his eyes as he continued to watch me.
With Quentin, I always had to think pretty hard to decipher what he was thinking. Even now, it was almost like that was what was happening.
I looked down, only just realizing that I’d been tugging on Quentin’s tie. His gaze dropped to the tie that was still in my grasp and then back up to my lips.
Ever so slightly, they went up to my eyes. Shit. I was slowly starting to make sense of that look in his
eyes.

> Then it hit me ever so slowly. The scent of his arousal, small and musky as it hit my nose. Without
giving it a second thought, I broke away from him.
The dangerous look in his eyes was still there, like he was silently daring me to venture further.
