When Jack saw my bodyguard finally arrive, the color disappeared from his face.
His arms went slack, dropping Tyler to the ground with a thud.
“Daddy, that hurt!” Tyler wailed from the pavement.
Ashley rushed to comfort him. “It’s okay, baby, Daddy’s just angry at the bad people who hurt you. These people are here to teach this bad woman a lesson!”
The parents nodded eagerly.
These men must be here to get this bitch!”
“Of course! Seducing a PACK Alpha is a serious offense, and this woman doesn’t deserve pity if she’s banished a million times.”
“That homewrecker really crossed the line this time.”
“Everyone record this! She’s about to get what she deserves!”
The crowd buzzed with anticipation, waiting for Jack led the men in black to their next move.
They thought the “Princess” was Ashley.
But Jack just stood there, paralyzed.
Ashley noticed his hesitation. Her smile turned knowing.
“Darling, I understand. She’s your little mistake. I get it. But if you deal with her now and promise to end it, all is forgiven.”
“Go ahead. Let those men in black take her away.”
Ashley was so sure of her position, certain Jack would choose her. She’s also convinced that the men in black just yelled “Princess” at her.
But Jack remained frozen, staring at me like he’d seen a ghost.
No one spotted the sweat beading on his forehead.
That’s when Emma stepped forward, tugging Jack’s sleeve.
Her innocent eyes looked up at him, confused. “Daddy, why is that boy calling you his daddy too?”
Before Jack could answer, Tyler shoved her hard.
“Stop calling him that, you stupid brat!”
“I guess I didn’t hurt you enough earlier.”
“He’s MY dad! I’ll kill you for trying to steal him!” Tyler raised his fist again.
A burly man in black rushes over at instantaneous speed and knocks Tyler down with a single punch.
Tyler crashed onto the pavement.
His elbow scraped raw against the concrete, drawing blood.
His streams pierced the air.
Ashley rushed to that burly man in black, yelled: “Have you lost your mind?”

Jack ignored Ashley, the way she was going crazy, he knelt beside Emma. “Sweetheart, are you hurt?”
Emma, who used to adore her father, shrank back in fear.
She buried herself in my arms, watching him like a wounded animal.
All of the helicopters came to a stop and a dozen men in black came down from them.
The surrounding parents looked at the scene in surprise.
Just then, a black Mercedes and several police cruisers pulled up.
man in an expensive suit hurried over, looking apologetic.
“Princess, I apologize for the delay. Traffic was awful.”
The man in black, Blair, who had just punched Tyler, yelled angrily at the man, “If you know the traffic is bad, change your mode of transportation before it’s too late!”
“I’m sorry, Your Highness and Captain Blair! I apologize for the harm done to the Princess.”
“But I brought officers to handle the assault charges.”
Seeing the lawyer’s deference, Ashley exploded. “You desperate bitch! Hiring actors now?”

She spat at my feet.
The parents jumped in. “Just a golddigger pretending to be some Princess.”
“She actually thinks sleeping with Jack makes her somebody?”
“Called the cops on herself – how pathetic!”
I looked to Blair, helplessly, and said, “I’m old enough to even be a mother, so stop calling me princess and just call me by my name: Melanie Luciano.”
Luciano is one of the last names of the werewolf royal family.
I turned to the officers, my voice steady. “These people assaulted me, vandalized my car, destroyed millions in artwork, and their son deliberately injured my daughter with a wire.”
“I want them charged. No deals.”
The once–bold parents started to squirm.
But some still shouted. “Stand your ground! We’re protecting marriage here! Just because you’re from a royal family doesn’t give you a free pass to ruin someone’s MATE relationship.”
“Right! We’re fighting for morality! Everyone supports us!”
The crowd cheered, boosting their fading courage.
Blair surveyed the damage, his expression darkening. He came over and picked me up off the floor while holding my daughter.
Ashley grabbed Jack’s arm. “Here’s my Alpha! Tell them, honey! All these bodyguards, airplanes, and lawyers, they’re all Shadow Pack’s property!”
Jack yanked away like her touch burned. “Get off me!”
Ashley froze, staring at him in shock.
The crowd fell silent, confused. “What’s happening?”
As everyone watched, Jack walked slowly toward me.
