Chapter 54
When my nose caught a whiff of that particular scent.I felt my breath hitch. Olavir was coming
Askhan must have noticed my pause too. His head whipped to the door and he understood immediately.
Without a word, he moved away from me and began taking his jacket off. It took a bit of resolve to remove it despite the injury on his shoulder which was now slowly healing itself.
“Here,” He handed me the jacket. “Wear this.”
quickly took it from him and put it on, using the zipper and pulling the end of the jacket as best as I could.
The door flung open and there stood Olavir, a few other men standing behind him. His gaze went from Askhan and then to me.
His eyes lingered on the end of the jacket just before they narrowed. “What the hell happened here?”
“A lot actually,” Askhan let out a breath.
Olavír scoured the room before his gaze landed on the empty bottle lying on the floor. His eyes turned back to me.
“You took the potion?” He asked, his voice rising just a little.
I silently nodded, blinking innocently despite the fact I knew I was guilty of not listening to what he had ordered.
He dragged a frustrated hand over his face before his gaze went back to the jacket that just barely covered my bum.
His head whipped towards Askhan immediately. “Get out of the room.”
Askhan understood immediately and left the room without saying a word. When he reached the door, his gaze flicked to me just momentarily before he finally walked away.
Olavir turned to the people standing behind him. “That applies for you too. Leave.”
They quietly left the room, leaving just me and Olavir. His eyes narrowed on me, flicking to the short end of the jacket ever so slightly.
“Get changed into something.” He urged.
I linked innocently before nodding my head and moving to grab my clothes. Olavir offered me some privacy by turning away while I got dressed.
“Done.” I said to him just as I finished putting on my shirt.
He turned back to me and nodded his head. “Come on then.”
He led us out of the room and down the halls where I immediately spotted Askhan waiting by corner.
“You good?” He asked, a look of concern in his eyes.
I nodded. His eyes softened just a little before he turned to Olavir. “So the potion worked?”
“I still don’t know all of what happened.” Olavir folded his arms and fixed me with a pointed look.
Askhan proceeded to explain everything, from how I’d been writhing in unimaginable pain to finally turning into a wolf. I noticed how he left out the part about me hurting him.
Olavir hummed at the explanation. “That explains it. So the potion works them.”
He turned to me. “Congratulations on fixing the poisoning in your system, Melanie. Your health is back now and so is your wolf.”
A small smile tugged at my lips. “I’m happy too.”
“We finally got rid of it after so long,” Askhan smiled. “I’m happy for you, Melanie.”
“Thank you,” I beamed just before the smile dropped from my face. “But this has to be kept between the three of us for now. There’s still a couple of

things that has to be sorted out first.”
Olavir and Askhan exchanged glances with each other before Olavir chuckled. “See, another unlucky wolf is about to be born.”
Holding back my excitement wasn’t as hard as I’d expected it to be. I felt good, refreshed, and rejuvenated. Like someone had pulled me out of a water I’d been drowning. It felt like I could finally breathe freely now.
“You think they’ll still be there?” Jane asked as we made out of the Alpha Palace.
“Oh definitely,” I said as we made our way towards the car. Jane hopped into the driver’s seat while I took the passengers.
We had decided to finally meet up with the former members of the tech team. It was high time things got set in motion.
The car drove out of the parking area of the palace and smoothly went past the gates. In the years since I’d gotten married and retired from the tech
ye, everyone in the team had gone into hiding. Most of them had ventured into normal packs and lived particularly normal lives.
Jane stopped at a cosy looking studio and parked the car just before it. We made our way into the building, my heart beating with the excitement of finally getting to meet them after so long.
The first sight that greeted me was the view of the studio where most of our planning and strategizing had taken place.
They were all lounging at the far end of the room, excitedly chatting among each other. One of the men raised his head to look at me.
“No way,” he said in disbelief. “Melanie!”
They all turned to me, their faces bright with excitement. I smiled, unable to hold back mine as I went up to meet them.
“I can’t believe you’re back.” Amy grinned happily before pulling me into a hug.
“Good to be back.” I smiled.
