Chapter 44
The tears finally began to spill down Claire’s cheeks. She turned to look at me, like I was somehow the one responsible for all her problems,
I had the urge to snicker seeing her in this state but that would only make me seem evil. There was always plenty of other times to gloat,
Without another word, she walked out of the room, her heels making a clanking sound against the floor.
I turned to Quentin, unable to hide the surprise in my eyes. From the moment Quentin came into the room, I’d expected him to take Claire’s side. She’d basically attached herself to his hip back in school. I wouldn’t have been surprised if he had decided to take her side.
And for some reason, he hadn’t.
Quentin was usually cold and had a detached aura to him but back in school, he’d always been really gentle with Claire. One of the fights we’d had was all because of her. When it came to Claire, he would never agree to see reason, always choosing to take her side.
Which is why I couldn’t hide my surprise that he’d sent her away so coldly, Quentin raised an eyebrow at my silence.
“You told her to leave?” I stated the obvious.
He shrugged. “That was the instruction I gave her before.“.
I simply hummed, unsure of what to say next. They had their own dynamic–always have–and I wasn’t about to just butt into it.
Now that Claire had interrupted what we’d been doing, I was no longer in the mood to go on with what we’d been doing.
Quentin seemed resigned as well, slowly putting back a few of his buttons while leaving the first two open.
“I have to get to work.” Quentin said, pulling back from me.
I nodded, watching as his eyes never left mine. For someone that had a lot to do, he was being awfully clingy.
A small smirk found its way to my lips. I crossed my legs, resting my weight on my arms as I stared at him.
His eyes slowly went down from my eyes to my lips and then down to my neck. They lingered on my chest for a while before going down my waist to my crossed legs.
Seeing where his gaze was, I slowly uncrossed them, pretending to be oblivious to his stares.
“Fuck.” The words were barely audible as they left his lips.
“Well get to it then.” I said, a hint of arrogance in my voice as I watched him.

There was a pleading look in his eyes as he looked at me then at the desk. All this documents were here and that was the place he usually worked.
Seeing that I wasn’t going to budge anytime soon, he let out a sigh. Grabbing the documents from beside me, he made his way back to the sofa and
sank into it.
Grumbling under his breath, he began to go through the documents, his head bent in frustration.
A laugh left my lips as I watched him. Quentin’s eyes raised up to meet mine, a helpless look I his eyes.
“This is funny to you? Are you entertained yet?” He asked, staring at me blankly.
“Oh very amused.” I grinned, not bothering to hide my smile.
“You still say that you won’t let people go on calling you a princess. You’re not different from before you were married.”
I didn’t bother with a retort, simply staring at him with an unamused look. He held my gaze for a while before letting out a sigh and turning back to his work.
Eventually, we received a message from the pilot saying the plane had arrived at its destination. I looked out of the window to see a couple of cars parked a little distance from the hanger.

After Divorce: Pursued by the Three
Chapter 44
As soon as the plane landed, I wasted no time at all and got off. From a distance, I could make out the familiar figure of a royal prince.
As soon as his eyes landed on me, a small grin broke out on his face. I waved at him, making my way down the stairs.
When Quentin followed behind me, a bright idea popped into my head. What better way to get back at Quentin than a good prank?
As we got closer to Askhan, I made sure my face was down, my shoulders sagged like I was trying to make myself small.
“Melanie?” Quentin sounded worried as he watched me
I didn’t bother with a reply, simply focused on making my way to Askhan. The royal prince had a look of confusion in his eyes as he stopped before me.
“Melanie, what’s wrong?” He asked, his gaze fixed on me for a while before turning to Quentin. “What did you do?”
antin simply narrowed his eyes on Askhan, not bothering with a reply. I looked up at Askhan, my eyes glistening with unshed tears.
He seemed momentarily stunned by my tears before a hard look washed over his face. He turned to glare at Quentin.
“What did you say to her? I know you must have had a hand in this.” Askhan accused.
“Bold of you to assume that.” Quentin replied coldly.
Both of the men glared at each other, none of them willing to back away or falter where they stood.
