“We’ll cut her off before she escapes into the forest.” I said, my breath coming out in pants as we raced through the stores in order to catch up with
her.
As soon as we burst through an open door, Ashley skidded to a stop. Her eyes narrowed once they settled on me.

She turned back just as a loud yelp rang through the air. Her eyes flicked back to me and I could see the impatience in them.*
“Get the hell out of my way. I’ll deal with you some other time.” She tried to side–step her way into an escape but Jane did well to block her path.
“Fat chance of that happening.” Jane folded her arms, eyeing her cautiously.
Slowly, Melanie’s face contorted into that of anger. I remained rooted in the spot as she eyed me venomously.
“We didn’t come here for small talk,” I started. “Just tell us what Jack is hiding, and we’ll be on our merry way.”
Ashley simply stared at us for a while. Suddenly, her sharp laughter cut through the air like a blade.
When she dropped her head back to look at me, there was nothing but pure hate laced in them.
“You really expect me to just sell out my mate. You really are nothing but a dumb bitch.” She scoffed.
My chest slowly rose and fell as I tried to keep my anger in check. I couldn’t afford to lose it. Not now when it was pretty obvious that I needed something from her. I needed answers, and she was just the right person to get it from.
“Tell us.” Jane said eagerly, taking a cautious step forward.
Ashley eyed her with disdain before turning back to me. “You really think coming here with some wannabe would be enough to intimidate me? Fat
chance.”
“Just tell us what we want to know.” My eyes narrowed on her.
“Shut up!” She yelled angrily. “This is all your fault. You ruined our lives and that wasn’t enough for you still. Now you’re back to cause more damage, huh? I’ll be damned if I let that happen!”
Her hands trembled as she pointed at me. “I won’t let you take him away from me.”
A laugh left my lips before I even realized it. “You’re not thinking straight. The only coherent thought you have is Jack, and even he is going to leave you eventually.”
“Bullshit,” she scoffed. “Jack is mine and mine alone. Like hell I’m going to let anyone take him away from me.”
Jane took a step forward, her eyes glinting with an urge to take Ashley down. I held out a hand for her to stop. I needed that information, and striking now would blow our chances of getting it.
“You’re forgetting that I’m Jack’s former mate. I’m the Alpha and Luna who completed the rite of passage with the blessings of the moon goddess. If anything, you’re the one who came along and ruined everything.”
Ashley shook her head vehemently, glaring at me with all the disdain she could muster. I slowly began to walk towards her, not afraid of what she might do.
“The only person he’s ever loved is me. Only me. And there’s nothing you can do to change that!” She stomped her foot on the ground.
“Oh yeah?” I smirked. “And how has he shown his love for you? Getting you any gifts? Professing his love before a soul stone? Swore an oath by the moon goddess?”

I could see her shoulders shaking with each word I uttered. Good. That was exactly what I wanted.
“Oh wait wait.” I piped up, my tone filled with mockery. “Does he give you the occasional fuck or two? Maybe tells you how you’re the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen?”
