Chapter 19
I couldn’t help the smile that made its way to my lips. It was still surprising to see so much people who cared about my wellbeing but I was grateful for it nonetheless.
“Thank you, General Haelor.”
“Please. Call me Haelor.” He corrected me.
“Okay. Thank you, Haelor.” I smiled.
“Well, then.” Askhan tapped the side of his

felt in such a long time. I’d gotten to meet two of my childhood friends.
Ito Olavir who was discussing something with Askhan and Haelor.
“Of course. Feel free to do whatever you want.” He said with a smile before turning to the men.
I got up from my chair and made my way outside the house. Different servants and maids in the house went about performing their duties.
The villa was a complete sight to see. I could barely take in the beautiful architecture and designs that had gone into making this place. I was still admiring the flowers that lined the pathway when I overheard the conversation of a group of maids.
“I’m just saying. It might be that the call is from inside the house.”
“Do you really think she’s a prostitute too?”
“Well think about it. Yes, the woman named Ashley was exposed as a prostitute but the thing is, that other woman might be one too. There’s no way she’d get beaten on livestream if she wasn’t.”
I felt extremely angry when I realized what they were talking about. That was such an embarrassing stream!
“Who knows whether this was all some kind of ruse? They might have been working together the entire time just to split the money unevenly. Maybe that was why Ashley decided to livestream her humiliation.
Without thinking, I walked up to them, my hands balled into fists by my sides. They stopped talking as soon as I came up to them.
“You’ve got it all wrong. That woman wasn’t a prostitute. She is a rich girl.”
“I beg to differ.” One of the maids scoffed. “The one who was beaten deserved what she got. She must have been a whore too if she got such a
treatment.”
“You’re getting it all wron
I said, my teeth gritted in anger.
They were all staring at me, a certain look in their eyes. Mockery. They were mocking me. They knew the real truth of it all yet they were mocking me.
Anger was boiling deep inside me and I wanted nothing more than to lash out at these maids. They had absolutely no right to talk like this.
“I’ve heard enough.”
I turned back in surprise just as Haelor came up to us. The maids immediately bowed their heads in respect. Of course they respected him and not me.
He ignored them completely. “I heard everything you all said.”
They began to tremble when they realized they’d been caught bad mouthing me. Haelor turned to the soldiers that were flanking him.
“I want these maids thrown into a cell.”
The maids began to protest and cry as they were dragged and pushed towards the villa’s dungeons.
His eyes narrowed. “You said such horrible things about Melanie. Just dying a hundred times wouldn’t be enough to erase Melanie’s aggravation.~

“I know I sighed. “It doesn’t mean they deserve to be thrown in a cell.”
I looked compassionately at the maids whose consciousness was being casually played with by the media and said, “They have not committed a capital
offense.”
He stared at me for a moment before letting out a sigh. “You’re too kind.”
He turned to the soldiers who were dragging the maids away. “Stop.”
The soldiers turned to him. “I want them fired. I don’t want them to ever step foot in this villa again.”
“Yes General!”
They proceeded to drag the crying maids away. I let out a sigh I didn’t know I’d been holding. The day’s events had been nothing short of crazy and all I
anted was to sleep.
“You need some rest.” Haelor pointed out. “Let’s take you to your room.”
I didn’t bother arguing and just followed him as he led me to my room. He stopped at the door just as I was about to go in
“Is something wrong?”
He shook his head, still standing in the long hallway outside my door. “I’ll be standing guard outside your room, Melanie.”
