I nodded, not caring about his explanation. 

Right now I was more interested in checking my account as soon as possible to make sure my song had really popped.

Once alone, I sank onto the plush couch tucked into a quiet corner, letting the lively conversations of the party become a distant hum. 

My phone wouldn’t stop buzzing with notifications, pulling me back into the real world. 

I unlocked it and stared at the flood of hearts and messages filling my screen.

Messages poured in, each more enthusiastic than the last, but one stood out:

I leaned back, a slow smirk forming on my lips. 

Aria guessed she would never have guessed that the woman she had once somewhat despised was the mysterious musician she had now invited. 

I skimmed through the messages, casually grabbing a drink from the table and sipping it, The drink tasted good, sweet liquid with a light cherry flavor, I drank three cups in a row. 

Until I picked up the fourth cup, the waiter next to me couldn’t help but remind me, “Ma’am, this is a high number of cocktails, although it looks very similar to the drink, but if you drink too much you will get drunk.” 

I froze, and then felt that my mind was indeed a bit foggy.

of us. 

“Elizabeth-” he began, trying to explain, but I didn’t give him the chance. 

I passed them and walked towards the restroom. 

I slapped the cold water on my cheeks, which were burning from the alcohol, and was surprised to find that I didn’t feel any heartache, perhaps because the spirits had paralyzed the feeling in my heart. 

I might not really love him anymore. 

When I returned to the venue, I saw Aria standing in the very center of the ball, smiling brightly and cheerfully. 

She announced, “Everyone is welcome to my engagement ceremony, at which time I will have the mysterious composer, ‘Monologue‘, perform during the ceremony.” 

A wave of gasps rippled through the crowd, whispers of admiration and excitement quickly filling the air.

Someone at the bottom asked, “Really? Aria, I’ve heard that ‘Monologue‘ never responded to any invitations.” 

Aria basked in the attention, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction as she soaked in the admiration of the onlookers. 

“I never get rejected.” She smiled, her eyes going to Leo, “Don’t you?” 

Leo furrowed his brow as if he wanted to refute this ridiculous wedding proposal, but Aria 

pped into him and whispered, “Leo, we’re made for each other. Are you sure you want to disgrace me in front of all these people?” 

Leo might not, but I will. 

I stood at the edge of the crowd, arms crossed, a mocking smile tugging at the corners of my 

mouth. 

“Do you really think ‘Monologue‘ would perform at a wedding like yours?” 

I called out, my voice slicing through the murmurs. 

Heads turned in my direction, the sudden tension thickening the air. 

“I know ‘Monologue‘ personally. She told me she would never perform at the wedding of a 

home–wrecker.” 

The room fell into a stunned silence.

I met her glare calmly, my voice measured. “You can always call and find out.” 

The call was answered, and suddenly, the entire room’s attention zeroed in on Aria.
