I sighed, “Leo, I think I’ve already turned you down. Why do you still want to come?” 

He looked into my eyes, his gaze intense. 

“Because you’re still my Luna. And there’s something you need to know.” 

I could feel is constant gaze, as if he was hoping to see some positive response from my end. 

His ears all stretched out to hear the ‘yes‘ for what ever he asks as he has been hearing all these years 

Once upon a time, during the grand festivals, Leo would shower me with expensive gifts. 

I’d feign delight, hiding my true feelings beneath a mask of gratitude. 

I kept the jewelry and money, but what I truly craved was his love and companionship. 

Tonight, however, I had no desire for either his affection or his lavish gifts.

“I don’t need these,” I said firmly, pushing the box back towards Leo. “I won’t be attending the party.” 

Leo’s gaze grew intense, almost pleading.

The memory of those vows was sharp.

“That we would give everything for each other and the Silvermoon Pack, and that I would shoulder Luna’s duties.” 

His expression softened slightly, though frustration still lingered.

The thought of my friends and family in the Silvermoon Pack tugged at my heart.

Lena sighed and appeared in front of them, but kept her distance. 

“Yes.” There was relief in Lina’s voice, “We’ll soon no longer be Mates, I don’t need to hide from you anymore, Zane.” 

“No!” Zane fumed, “I’m not Leo the idiot, we’re MATE, this will never change, Lena, don’t leave me behind!” 

Lena disappeared into my mind without another word. 

I weighed her words carefully. With a sigh, I relented. 

“You’re right, Leo. I’ll attend the dinner, but it’s not for you. It’s my duty as Luna, and for those who care about me.” 

Leo had a complicated look on his face as he reached out his hand as if he wanted to caress my face as he had done before, but seeing my resistance, his hand froze in mid–air. 

He said bitterly, “I’ll pick you up tomorrow at this time.” 

The following evening, I donned a midnight–blue gown that flowed elegantly around me.

Delicate beadwork caught the light, and matching jewelry sparkled at my neck and wrists. 

As I arrived at the grand venue, my breath was taken away by the sight: opulent chandeliers bathed the ballroom in a golden glow, while the room buzzed with the hum of refined conversation and laughter. 

Holding Leo’s hand, I mingled with the guests. Many Alphas and Lunas praised us, their compliments mixed with admiration.
