There, standing just beyond the pool, was a man in a dark coat, his collar turned up against the cold.
His gaze was fixed on me, deep and intense, filled with emotions long buried. It was Leo.
Shirlika and Sherlock noticed him too, their chatter quieting as they stared at the man who had suddenly appeared in our midst.
The snow fell softly, the lights flickering in the distance, casting a warm glow on the scene.
“Shirlika,” Leo said, his voice low, “My daughter is called by that name too.”
paused, his voice thick with emotion.
“But I made an unforgivable mistake, and she, along with her mother, left me for over three years. Not a day has passed that I haven’t thought about
them.”
Before I could respond, I felt his arms wrap around me from behind, pulling me into a tight embrace.
The scent of him–familiar, comforting–filled my senses.
“I found you, Elizabeth,” he whispered.
I didn’t move, didn’t say a word. He held me close, his breath warm against my neck, and for a moment, the years melted away.
“You promised,” he said, his voice urgent, “You promised me that if I let you go, we could still be possible. Don’t reject me now, not without giving me a
chance.”
His eyes flicked to the wishing pool.
“Every year, I’ve made a wish here, praying for a second chance. And now, here we are.”
The show continued to fall, blanketing the world around us in silence.
Leo hever got an answer from me, his eyes were empty and deep, as if they had lost all colour and hope.
I smiled softly, my heart still racing. “They’ve answered, Leo. Do you hear them?”
His voice trembled. “Answered what?”
“That we’ve met here,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “That’s your answer.”
We had come full circle, and though I didn’t know what the future held, I was willing to give him one last chance. Just as I had promised.
It was as if Leo’s entire being was struck by an electric current, his heart skipped a beat, followed by an unprecedented surge of ecstasy.
His eyes instantly lit up, flashing with incredible light.
The corners of his mouth involuntarily rose slightly, and immediately after, this smile gradually expanded until it turned into a smile that was brillian to the extreme.
In an instant, it was as if spring had come early, and everything was revived and full of life.
There was coolness on my lips.
It was Leo who kissed me.
It was a soft and deep kiss, as if with endless apologies and cherishing.
“Thank you, Elizabeth, for being willing to give me this chance.”
Leo’s voice was low and full of emotion, each word like a treasure pulled from the depths of his heart, “You’ve given my life back meaning.”
As we turned to leave, hand in hand, Shirlika’s voice broke the quiet.

Sherlock, though his expression was serious, couldn’t hide the excitement in his eyes.

So we moved on, through the snow, one step at a time, into the distance, each step seeming so light, as if we were walking towards a whole new world. a world that we had dreamed of but had thought we had lost forever.
It was full of unknowns, but surely there was a future with the promise of spring blooming and new beginnings.
