A warrior from the Thorne Valley Pack approached, opening an umbrella and holding it over me as I stepped out of the car. 

The cold rain splashed against the ground, and I could feel the chill creeping through my body, but I didn’t care.

“Are you sure about this?” she asked, her voice soft, filled with concern. 

I looked out the window at the endless rain, at the world I was leaving behind. 

“There’s no going back,” I murmured. “Not now. Not ever.” 

Mathira hesitated, then asked, “And what you said back at the hospital? About giving Leo a chance… did you mean it?” 

I smiled faintly, the sadness settling deep into my bones. 

“It’s what he needed to hear,” I whispered. “But the truth is, I’m going far away. And he’ll never see me again.” 

The rain continued to fall as the car drove away, the last remnants of my past life fading into the storm behind me.

She had always called him by his name, always used “Leo” with tenderness, never “Alpha.”
