The clock struck one in the morning, and the hospital sat in eerie silence, its hallways dimly lit by flickering fluorescent lights. 

The quiet hum of machines blended with the occasional shuffle of nurses‘ shoes. 

Suddenly, the rumble of multiple car engines broke through the stillness, making the nurse on night duty jump. 

She hesitated, peering through the large windows by the entrance, her heart pounding in her chest.

“My name is Freya,” she said in a cold, even tone. “I’m the beta of the Thorne Valley Pack.” 

The nurse blinked, a confused frown crossing her face. 

She hadn’t heard of this pack before. Her mind raced–where had these people come from, and what were they doing here? 

Beside Freya, a woman with a softer expression but equally intense presence smiled faintly. 

“We used to be rogues,” she explained calmly, noticing the nurse’s confusion. “But we formed an alliance and fought in the last war. The Werewolf Council has officially recognized us as a pack.” 

The nurse’s legs shook beneath her, and she swallowed hard. 

She gathered her courage, standing a little straighter. 

“This is Silvermoon,” she stammered. “You can’t just walk in here and… and do whatever you please! This isn’t a place for you to-” 

Freya’s smile vanished in an instant, her eyes hardening. 

“We are not here to cause chaos. We are here for one reason, and one reason only: to retrieve our pack’s sole heir.” 

The weight of her words hit the nurse like a punch. 

The heir of the Thorne Valley Pack? Here? In this hospital? Panic surged through her veins. 

She opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out.
