She signed it with a flourish, tore it from the book, and handed it to me with a calm smile. “Here’s a little gig fee. Please, take it.”
I accepted the cheque, murmuring a thank you.
But when I glanced at the amount written on it, my eyes widened in disbelief.
Five million dollars–for one song?
“Ms. “Tira… did you did you write the wrong amount?” I stammered, trying to make sense of the number.
Tina let out a gentle laugh, her expression softening once more.
“No, dear. That’s correct. It’s five million. You’re worth every bit of it. At your age, to achieve what you have… you will be extraordinary in the future.”
Her praise was genuine, but there was a heaviness in her words, as if she knew more than she was letting on.
Just then, Freya, the beta received a phone call and leaned over to whisper something into Tira’s ear.
A faint blush rose to her cheeks, and she smiled politely.
“I’m afraid I have something to attend to now. But it was a pleasure meeting you both. I look forward to hearing more from you.”
We exchanged our goodbyes, and Leo and I left the suite.
As we stepped into the corridor, the entire encounter felt surreal, like I had just stepped out of a dream.
I looked at Leo, half in disbelief. “Pinch me, let me see if I’m dreaming.”
Leo glanced around the empty hallway before he suddenly grabbed my arm, pulling me into a corner. Without warning, he leaned down and bit my lip–not gently, but with the kind of possessiveness that was entirely his.
His lips curved into a mischievous grin as he asked, “Now, are you sure you’re not dreaming?”
Despite myself, I laughed lightly and gave him a gentle push.
“I guess not,” I hummed, still in a good mood, and headed towards the elevator.

Leo caught up with me, and the two of us walked side by side as the lift arrived.
The doors opened, and a tall figure stepped out, the brim of his hat pulled low over his face.
We brushed past him as we entered the lift, but something about him felt… familiar.
I glanced back, but the man had already disappeared down the corridor.
Leo noticed my hesitation. “What’s wrong?”
I shook my head, pushing the thought away. “Nothing. It’s probably nothing.”

As he stepped into the suite, he removed his hat, revealing his handsome face–Rolin.
His sharp eyes scanned the room, taking in the sight of Tira’s sitting on the sofa, her eyes red and puffy from crying.
Freya knelt by her side, offering words of comfort.
Rolin’s voice was quiet but firm. “You’ve met with them already?”
“Yes,” Tira nodded, her voice trembling slightly. “We haven’t seen each other in so many years… Elizabeth… my daughter.” Tears welled up again as she uttered those words, emotions she had long buried rising to the surface.
Rolin looked at Tira with a hint of concern in his eyes.
“So, have you told her the truth yet?”
Tira shook her head, her voice low but resolute.
“No, now isn’t the right time. My rogue alliance has been trying to get approval from the Werewolf Council to become a legitimate pack, but the application hasn’t been processed yet. Until that happens, I fear my presence would only harm Elizabeth’s reputation.”
Rolin crossed his arms, frowning thoughtfully. “I don’t think Elizabeth cares.”
Tira sighed deeply, her emotions weighing heavily on her.
“She’s exceptionally talented, Rolin. More talented than Orlando, even more talented than me. She has a brilliant future ahead of her, and I refuse to be the one to hold her back.”
Rolin was silent for a moment and said, “Did it ever occur to you that, Elizabeth doesn’t care about any of this? That she just wants to meet her mother?”
