“Don’t flatter yourself. I just came to drop off the papers you forgot,” I said, placing the files on his desk
As I turned to leave, he swiftly wrapped his arms around me from behind, pulling me close.

I felt my cheeks heat up a little and cleared my throat, breaking free of his grip and kicking him lightly in the leg.

I left his office and headed to the meeting room for waiting.

Suddenly, the screen flickered, and the images changed.
The meeting room grew quiet as the faces of a middle–aged man and woman appeared on the screen.
My breath caught in my throat. It was Morpheus and Shakira–my adoptive parents.
They were on a talk show, looking worn and uncomfortable, sitting awkwardly side by side.
“Today, we have with us the parents of the legendary race car driver and renowned pianist, Ms. Elizabeth,” the host announced.
Immediately, murmurs erupted throughout the meeting room.
“Wait, aren’t her real parents famous too? Isn’t her father Orlando Martin, the pianist?”
