I turned slowly, following her gaze, and saw Narik standing just outside the bathroom, his eyes locked on us.
In that moment, it all made sense–why Aria had whispered those provoking words.
She’d wanted Narik to see, to drive a wedge between us.
I could see the calculations in her mind, the twisted satisfaction she was hoping for.
Narik’s eyes softened as they met mine.
“Are you hurt?” he asked, his voice gentle.
I shook my head, grateful that he didn’t seem swayed by Aria’s performance.
Relief washed over his face.
He then turned to Aria, his expression hardening.
“Andrew was the one who threatened me tonight. If I’d known it was you, I would’ve jumped off a building rather than come here.”

Aria’s face contorted with hurt.
“How can you say that? I’m going to be your Luna!”
Nariks disgust was palpable.
“You approached him just for Luna’s position. And you didn’t hesitate to leave when he was injured, and now you’re turning your thoughts on me. I’ve truly never seen someone as despicable as you.”
Aria’s eyes glistened with tears, but her voice remained defiant.
“But Leo is injured! The doctor said his leg is beyond hope. He might not even be able to stand, let alone be Alpha in Inl beautiful–why should I waste my life on a man who’s as good as crippled? Leo would understand.”
