Chapter 76
I finished his sentence with a mocking smile. “Don’t tell me you mistook her for me.”
“1-“Logan began, but I cut him off.
“Logan, you hardly ever kissed me.”
He grimaced, the truth hitting him like a slap. In the three years we were together, we held hand cuddled, but rarely kissed passionately.
When he did kiss me, it was always on my hand, cheek, or forehead. Even the few kisses on the lips were barely more than pecks.
My words left him floundering, and his irritation grew. He suddenly released me and ran his hand through his hair in frustration. “Yes, I made a mistake and kissed her on impulse, but it meant nothing.”
“Will it only mean something if you sleep with her?” I mocked, my tone sharp.
Logan’s frustration hit its peak. “Am I really that vile to you? If I were that kind of person, I would’ve slept with you a long time ago. It would never have come to this.”
I froze for a moment, then laughed bitterly.
Did he mean to say that if we’d slept together, I wouldn’t have made such a fuss? Did he think that intimacy would have silenced all my grievances?
Instead of arguing further, I delivered a cutting retort. “But you weren’t interested in me, were you? Isn’t that why you never slept with me?”
I realized that the words, which had once hurt me deeply, now served as a weapon against him.
Logan’s eyes narrowed. “Elaine, you still haven’t gotten over that, have you?”
“I have,” I said calmly. “We broke up. But you’re the one who keeps dragging me back into the past.”
“Broke up?” Logan sneered. “Don’t think I don’t know you left me for Ashton. You two were involved long before, living together in Amaty.”
I wasn’t surprised that he knew I had been in Amaty–Tessa had already mentioned it. But his assumption that Ashton and I had been involved for a long time was absurd.
“If that’s what you want to believe, fine. At least I only met Ashton after we broke up. Unlike you, who kissed your good friend’s wife while he was still alive.”
Logan’s agitation grew at the mention of Selene. I couldn’t tell if it was guilt or something else.
“So, you’re protecting Ashton now? Refusing to let him go so you can use work as an excuse to date him?”
His ability to twist the narrative was astonishing.
“If you say so.”
I didn’t deny it.
Logan glared at me. “Elaine, believe it or not, I can make him disappear from this industry right now.”
“I believe you,” I said, meeting his gaze. “But if he goes, I go. If he disappears, I disappear with him.”

a over.
“You” Logan raised a finger at me, his anger bolling
“Logan Mercer,” I Interrupted coldly, “you’re the one who cheated on me. You’re the one who got bored. I gave you what you wanted, but you’re still harassing me. Don’t you find that pathetic?”
“Harassing you?” he growled. “I’m just trying to stop you from making a mistake. You have no idea how deceitful men can be.”
“I don’t need to know. You’ve already shown me.”
Logan froze at my words. His eyes widened, as if he couldn’t believe that was how I saw him.
I stayed focused on the argument at hand. “Logan, just to be clear, I stay only if Ashton stays transfer him or do anything to him, I’ll leave too.”
With that, I turned and walked away, not looking back.
I didn’t see him standing there, his hands dropping to his sides in defeat.
Nor did I notice the desolate look in his eyes, as though he had just lost his entire world.
If you
