What happened to Logan? Why was he covered in blood? Was he hurt? Dreams like this usually carried meaning.
The night before my parents‘ car accident, I had a bad dream too. I dreamt that my two front teeth fell out and bled profusely. I woke up crying, and the very next day, my life changed forever.
A wave of panic swept through me, making me forget about Ashton’s concerned gaze. It wasn’t until his hand gently wiped the cold sweat from my forehead that I was snapped back to reality.
“Did you have a nightmare?” he asked softly, his voice steady and caring.
I realized he must have heard me calling Logan’s name in my dream, so I quickly explained, “I dreamt of Logan standing at the foot of the bed, covered in blood. I kept asking him what was wrong, but he wouldn’t answer me.”
Ashton’s reaction surprised me. “Don’t worry,” he said calmly, “dreams are often the opposite of reality. If you’re concerned, you can call him to check.”
Was he really suggesting I call Logan? Shouldn’t he be jealous? If the roles were reversed and this were Logan, he’d definitely be upset.
I glanced outside and saw that the sky was already beginning to brighten. I sighed and snuggled closer into Ashton’s arms. “I’m sleepy. I want to rest a bit more.”
“Sure,” Ashton replied, stroking my hair gently with his large hand. His touch was soothing, and his tenderness was as constant as ever–no signs of anger or jealousy.
I drifted off again, too exhausted to dwell on my dream or Ashton’s words. Just before I fell into a deep sleep, I felt him kiss my forehead and heard his low, murmuring voice:
“You’re still worried about him.”
I wanted to respond, but my body felt heavy, and sleep took over.
When I woke up again, it was already 9:00 a.m. Panic hit me as I realized I was late for work. I glanced around the room and saw that Ashton was gone, but he’d left breakfast on the table along with a note.
My body ached all over, as if I’d been taken apart and put back together again. It made me laugh- there really was some truth to what was written in romance novels.
As I lay there, memories of the previous night flooded back: the passion with Ashton, the haunting dream of Logan, and Ashton’s quiet words.
I closed my eyes again, annoyed that Logan had somehow managed to intrude on what should have been a special night with Ashton. But the image of Logan, drenched in blood, lingered in my mind, making me uneasy.
Even though Logan and I no longer had romantic feelings for each other, our ten years together had created a bond that felt like family. I hesitated for a moment before picking up my phone. Instead of calling Logan directly, I decided to call Miles.

Hearing his response made me feel a little more at ease. If something had happened to Logan, Miles wouldn’t be speaking so casually.
“It’s nothing,” I said, quickly coming up with an excuse. “I just wanted to ask–when is the amusement park set to open?”
If Miles thought about it carefully, he’d probably realize I was just making conversation. If I really wanted to know, I could have just checked with the team directly.
“Logan hasn’t set a date yet,” Miles replied truthfully.
His response surprised me. Before the lighting issue, the opening date had already been fixed, which was why I had been so eager to resolve the problem. Now that everything was ready, the park should’ve opened within a week.
“Is there a problem?” I asked, concerned.
“No, everything’s fine,” Miles assured me.
But something about his tone made me pause. If the amusement park itself was fine, then the issue had to be with Logan.
