Meanwhile, Simu ground his teeth in frustration, looking like an enraged yet cowardly dog.
The Great Saint King remained silent. Then, in a bizarre motion, his eyes opened, and his body suddenly appeared outside the car–before the door even opened.
Both Mackenzie and Quintus were shocked.
What wizardry is this?! How did he do that?
“Simu, stand down. I did not appoint this Holy Guardian. I’ll deal with him myself and then choose a more suitable guardian for the Saintess.”
“Yes, Great Saint King!”
Though Simu was reluctant, he still retreated, clutching his severed arm to stop the bleeding.
Quintus and Mackenzie immediately became serious. They both knew he was the real deal, but the question was: how terrifying was his strength?
But before they could process further, a commotion erupted in the distance–troops were arriving on the
scene.
The Great Saint King frowned deeply.
He hadn’t expected reinforcements.
The Wolf Warrior Unit’s 5,000 elites were still occupied at the outskirts of Zovince–so who else could have sent soldiers to rescue the Saintess?
Not that he feared ordinary military forces. Modern weapons couldn’t even lock onto someone of his level. But the very next second, a powerful voice boomed through the air, “Mackenzie, I’m here to save you!”
Hearing this, Quintus was instantly annoyed. F*cking hell! Isn’t this implying that I’m doing a terrible job as a Holy Guardian?!
The lead military vehicle pulled up to the scene.
A man in his early thirties leaped from the car and landed directly in front of Mackenzie’s vehicle, locking eyes with the imposing figure in the black–and–gold robe–the Great Saint King himself.
“Dragonicus?!”
Quintus, being from the martial world, immediately recognized the man whom Artemis had appointed Tocvale War God three years ago.
Ever since Emmanuel’s supposed fall, Dragonicus had become the new War God of Chanaea.

“Mackenzie and I grew up together. I’m here to take her back to Zovince.” Dragonicus smirked, his tone casual yet undeniably dominant.
“What?!” Quintus gasped in shock
Even Mackenzie’s eyes widened in confusion.
Grew up together? But I have no memory of it.
Yet, as she looked at Dragonicus‘ distinct smirk, something about him did feel oddly familiar–though she couldn’t recall any specific memory.
“Mackenzie is the Saintess of the Holy Fire Organization. I have already sent people to retrieve her twice, but they failed. This time, I have come personally to escort the Saintess back. I ask that you do not interfere.”
The Great Saint King’s tone was exceptionally polite.
Too polite.
Even Simu found it unnerving.
Had it not been for his missing arm, he would have slaughtered these Tocvale soldiers himself.
To someone of his level, modern firearms were nothing but toys wielded by insects.

As they spoke, two squads of soldiers leaped from the military vehicles, swiftly surrounding the Great Saint King’s car, their guns trained on him and Simu.
The Great Saint King’s gaze swept over them indifferently as if he were merely looking at weeds in a field. Yet, his lips curled slightly as he muttered, “Tocvale warriors… truly impressive in their might.”
“Leave now. I’m in a good mood today, and I don’t feel like killing anyone.” Dragonicus spoke arrogantly, even though he knew full well that the black–and–gold–robed elder before him was no ordinary opponent. But in the Tocvale War God’s eyes, aside from beautiful women, everyone else was insignificant.
“You arrogant b*stard! I’ll kill you!”

Just as Dragonicus was about to finish him off, the Great Saint King finally moved.
With a mere flick of his sleeve, a violent tornado erupted from his black–and–gold robes, engulfing Dragonicus instantly.
Even the proud Tocvale War God was momentarily startled. What level of master is this?!
He had originally planned to kill Simu and rescue Mackenzie in one swift motion. But now, facing the Great Saint King’s attack, he had no choice but to retreat.
However, Mackenzie was far sharper than they anticipated.
She had been waiting for this moment.
The moment the Great Saint King attacked, she sprang from the car and made a break for it!
“Mackenzie!” Quintus reacted instantly, rushing to protect her.
The Great Saint King, realizing what had happened, lunged toward Mackenzie without hesitation.
“Your opponent is me!”
Dragonicus‘ red spear flashed, coiling like a scarlet serpent as it struck toward the Great Saint King’s back. Even Quintus shivered at the sheer ferocity of the attack. This new Tocvale Commander… he’s a beast!
But even an attack powerful enough to slaughter a hundred men on the battlefield failed to land on the Great Saint King.
His figure blurred like an illusion, and the spear passed straight through empty space, embedding itself in the car instead.

Dragonicus flipped onto the hood of a wrecked vehicle, pulling his spear free. With a powerful kick, he sent the weapon flying straight at the Great Saint King. However, in the blink of an eye, the Great Saint King and Simu vanished.
They disappeared without a trace, right in front of Dragonicus.
“Great Saint King, are we really just going to abandon the Saintess like this?” Simu asked bitterly. Even if it meant dying, he would have rather gone down fighting than retreat like this. But the Great Saint King remained eerily composed, his expression unreadable as he gazed into the distance.
“No. The Saintess will come to us willingly… when the time is right,” he said.
He had anticipated that someone might intervene midway. That was why, while sitting in the car earlier, he had been making preparations.
After all, he was the Great Saint King, and he always planned ahead.
