On the other side, Quintus Lenoir rode his father’s steed, charging hundreds of miles in a relentless pursuit. Like a streak of lightning, he closed in on the mountain roads near Middlesouth.
“Mackenzie, I’m here!”
Summoning strength from somewhere deep within, Quintus urged his horse into a powerful leap, landing directly in front of the black vehicle ahead. As the car sped toward him, he raised his sword, ready to strike
it down.
Inside the car, the Great Saint King frowned.
Simu was even more shocked. “Why is Warlord’s man trying to stop us?”
Mackenzie’s expression flickered with surprise and delight, but she didn’t call out.
If she shouted Quintus‘ name, it would expose the fact that he wasn’t actually one of Warlord’s men. The enemy would figure it out sooner or later, but even a moment of confusion could buy precious time.
Simu reacted quickly, jerking the steering wheel and making a sharp ninety–degree turn to avoid Quintus‘ strike. The vehicle barely evaded the blade, but in doing so, it slammed against the mountainside, blocking its path forward.
“Great Saint King, I’ll take care of him!” Simu said irritably.
“Go.”
Surprisingly, the Great Saint King agreed without hesitation, his expression indifferent. He didn’t think one man could stand in their way.
Mackenzie, meanwhile, sat quietly in the car. She neither struggled nor made a scene–she knew escape was impossible, and she didn’t want to raise the enemy’s guard any further.
What she failed to notice, however, was the Great Saint King’s subtle, repeated gestures–strange, almost ritualistic movements.
“Mackenzie! I’m here! Your Holy Guardian is here! I will protect you!” Quintus shouted the moment he saw Mackenzie through the car window, and she responded with a small, trusting smile.
The Great Saint King, however, scoffed in amusement. “This is the Holy Guardian you chose, hmm, Saintess? He seems weaker than any of your previous ones.”
“You’re wrong. I trust him.”
Mackenzie replied serenely. “I believe he is the best Holy Guardian.”
Because of that one look, that one declaration, the Great Saint King’s interest was piqued. He remained seated, deciding to watch how the fight would unfold.
“Enough with the big talk! Anyone who stands in my way dies!” Simu lunged at Quintus, eager to eliminate him.

Unlike soldiers, the Holy Fire Organization was made up of zealots, their faith entirely dependent on the Saintess. With her, they were unstoppable. Without her, they were nothing.
“Get lost! I’ll chop you down!”
Quintus swung his blade with immense force. However, Simu was much faster. As a Double S–Level Grand Protector, he was just half a step away from reaching Sage Level.
Dodging Quintus‘ strike with ease, Simu retaliated with a fierce claw strike to his abdomen.
A sharp pain tore through Quintus‘ body. Stumbling back, he looked down to see several faint, bloody gashes on his stomach.
Had it not been for his abnormal physique and the armor his father had left him, that attack would have disemboweled him.
“Heh, where did you steal that Airspace Group armor from? Judging by the way you’re fighting, you don’t even know how to use its power properly.” Simu licked the blood from his iron claws, his eyes gleaming with arrogance.
“None of your f*cking business! Die!” Quintus roared and swung his blade again. But even as he unleashed his full strength in blind fury, he failed to gain the upper hand.
After several exchanges, he was covered in even more wounds.
“Your Holy Guardian has determination, but unfortunately, he’s still lacking in skill.” The Great Saint King narrowed his eyes as he made his evaluation.
“I believe determination is more important than skill,” Mackenzie replied, repeating something she had often said at work. She firmly believed that what applied in the workplace also applied on the battlefield.
“Huh, you’re the weakest Holy Guardian I’ve ever seen. Looks like bringing the Saintess back was the right move–becaus
there’s no way you could protect her.” Simu sneered, toying with Quintus while simultaneously humiliating him.
“Shut up! I’m going to tear that mouth of yours apart!” Quintus grew increasingly enraged. Instead of weakening from his injuries, his strength surged even more.
“Quintus, calm down!”
At a critical moment, Mackenzie’s voice rang out from the car.
Even she could see that Quintus‘ attacks were becoming reckless. And clearly, wielding a sword wasn’t his
forte.
She remembered something Emmanuel had once said, “Strength is meaningless if it doesn’t land a hit.”
Now was the time to remind Quintus.
Hearing the words of the woman he had secretly loved for years, Quintus immediately snapped back to his
senses.
“Heh, done attacking? Then it’s my turn ” Ci……….

dodge his attacks.
And he wasn’t wrong–Quintus couldn’t dodge at all.

If not for the armor his father had left him, he would have been shredded to pieces by Simu’s razor–sharp
claws.
Clang!
Pieces of the armor broke off, falling to the ground. Even the sword in Quintus‘ hand was slipping from his grip.
“Quintus…” Mackenzie clenched her fists in worry,
“Your Holiness, you’re still young. Your judgment isn’t always right. That’s why you need my guidance–I can show you the correct way.” The Great Saint King seized the moment to speak.
“No, I still believe my judgment is never wrong.” A firm light burned in Mackenzie’s gaze, unwavering despite the situation.
“The truth will reveal itself,” The Great Saint King said evenly, his hand still moving subtly within his sleeve.
“Die!” Simu’s next strike was aimed straight at Quintus‘ heart.
Mackenzie’s heart leaped into her throat. Finally, she shouted, “Quintus!”
Snap!
At the last possible moment, Quintus‘ hand shot out and caught Simu’s wrist.
Simu’s clawed hand was frozen in place.
Quintus‘ grip on his sword tightened, and he grinned. “I was waiting for this! My speed may not match yours, but I can predict your final attack!”
As he spoke, an old memory surfaced in his mind–his father training him on the basketball court when he
was young.
“Quintus, your perception isn’t the best, but your body is exceptional. On the battlefield, you don’t need to read all of your opponent’s moves–you’d never be able to. But all you have to do is predict their most crucial move.”
Adolph had pointed at the basketball hoop. “It’s like playing basketball. Your opponent might be quicker and flashier with their dribbling, but in the end, they have to shoot. If you can block that shot at the right moment, you win,”
Quintus had never forgotten his father’s teachings. He had always respected his father–because he believed in his father’s ability. And today, he had finally put that lesson into practice.
“Die!” Quintus roared and swung his sword.
Simu struggled to break free–not because he was weaker, but for some reason, he couldn’t escape!

With a swift, brutal slash, Quintus severed Simu’s wrist clean off.
“Aaahhhh!” Simu let out a bloodcurdling scream and stumbled back toward the car.
“Heh, your screams are music to my ears.” Quintus smirked, casually tossing Simu’s severed hand back to him. “After all the hits you landed on me, doesn’t this single strike feel a whole lot better?”
Mackenzie finally laughed. She turned to the Great Saint King and said, “What did I tell you? My judgment is never wrong.”
