Willard clenched his jaw, his fury evident. “That wretched girl! Not only does she have no respect for her elders, but knowing all the threats the Nelsons face, she stood by and let Emyr go against us without lifting a finger. I will not accept such a cold–hearted daughter!”
To him, the well–being of the Nelson Group and the family’s interests were paramount. Emyr’s sudden animosity toward them was tied to Charmaine, and her indifference to the family’s struggles only fueled his
rage.
Olympia’s eyes filled with tears, her voice shaking with emotion. “Milo’s fate is still uncertain. How can I live under the same roof as the one who harmed him?”
Besides, she added with bitterness, “Abbot Blaer never directly said that ‘return to the original position‘ meant Charmaine. Maybe he meant we should go back to the time before we even found her. Leah is the true blessing of our family!”
Leah’s lips twitched slightly, but she lowered her gaze, saying nothing.
Valda, who had been listening attentively, furrowed her brows.
However, she didn’t fully share the same opinion as her son and daughter–in–law.
Since Abbot Blaer hadn’t clarified his words, Valda wasn’t about to make assumptions about divine will.
Still, a nagging feeling lingered in her mind–that “original position” might refer to Charmaine.
As the family pondered their different thoughts, the young monk appeared, carrying a small intricately carved wooden box. He approached them and handed it over with both hands.
In a reverent tone, he spoke. “The Nelson family has donated a lot to the monastery. In gratitude for your decade of devotion, Abbot Blaer personally crafted this Carmine Sovereign Bracelet. It’s said that a kind- hearted person who wears it will experience good fortune, while also bringing peace and protection to the household.”
The Nelsons were thrilled.
Abbot Blaer was a highly respected figure, and any item he personally crafted was considered invaluable. To receive such a gift was an extraordinary honor.

His gaze shifted slightly as he looked at Leah, then handed her the wooden box.
“Leah, you are the lucky star of our family. Wear this bracelet, and it will protect your health and bring prosperity to the Nelsons. It will help the Nelson Group overcome its troubles.
Olympia nodded in agreement. “Yes, Leah is the rightful owner of this bracelet in our family.”
Jonah seemed indifferent, his face unreadable.
Zayn’s eyes flickered with something hidden, but he remained silent.
Leah, taken aback, could hardly believe Willard was giving her such a valuable bracelet.
But she believed that, as Willard had said, she was indeed the lucky star of the Nelsons, and wearing the bracelet would surely bring the family more success and prosperity.
Surprised and flattered, a small swell of pride began to grow within her.
She smiled brightly, taking the bracelet, and said sweetly, “Thank you, Dad. I will work hard to contribute to the company and the family.”
Her words filled Willard and Olympia with pride.
Even Valda couldn’t help but feel relieved. “At least this trip to Mount Hyrul wasn’t for nothing.”
Willard, now feeling smug, couldn’t resist adding, “With this bracelet from the Abbot to protect us, the Crosses‘ brat thinks he can bring down the Nelsons? In his dreams!”
But just as he finished speaking, there was a sharp crack. The bracelet Leah had just put on snapped, and the beads scattered across the floor.
A group of onlookers outside the annex, who had been admiring the Nelsons for receiving such a precious gift, gasped in shock. “The artifact just broke–this is an omen of bad luck!” one of them whispered.
“That young girl seems fine. Why did the bracelet break after she wore it? Could it be that she’s so burdened with sin that even the prayer beads won’t accept her?”
“Maybe it’s the whole family that’s cursed. They just ruined such a precious treasure. What a waste!”
Willard, Olympia, Vala and Leah were stunned beyond words.
