When Keira returned to the hospital room, she was greeted by a sight that made her pause. The room was decorated with fresh flowers and balloons, and beside her bed, there was a small cart filled with various gift boxes.
The atmosphere was so festive that if someone walked in, they might have thought it was a birthday party rather than a postpartum recovery room.
“What’s all this?” Lena asked on Keira’s behalf.
“A reward for my wife,” Hayden answered, his hand still holding Keira’s as he gazed at her with deep affection.” She went through so much. This is my way of thanking her
Keira smiled faintly. “I don’t need any of this.”
“Whether you need it or not is one thing. Giving it to you is my choice,” Hayden said, pressing a kiss onto Keira’s fingertips. “Even if everything I have already belongs to you, I still want to give you more.”
“Such a loving husband–honestly, what more could a woman ask for?” Lena teased before patting Keira’s hospital bed. “But if President Hart really wants to thank his wife, the best thing he can do is let her lie down and rest.”
Without a word, Hayden scooped Keira up in his arms and gently placed her onto the bed, carefully adjusting her position to make sure she was comfortable.
“Alright, baby girl, let’s find you a place to sleep. Your dad may say he adores you, but let’s be honest—his heart is still all about your mom,” Lena joked as she took the baby from the nurse and placed her into the bassinet beside Keira.
She examined the baby closely before giving instructions. Try breastfeeding in about half an hour. I’ll come check on you then.”
Then she turned her gaze to Hayden. “Now, put all these gifts away and lock them up in your home’s safe. This hospital room isn’t exactly secure–if someone sneaks in and takes them, we’re not responsible.”
“Got it. I’ll put them away after I finish handing out red envelopes,” Hayden replied. He then picked the largest one from the stack and handed it to Lena. “Thank you, Dr. Lane.”
“Publicly giving me a gift? I can’t accept this,” Lena said, crossing her arms and refusing outright.
Hayden chuckled. “It’s not just for you–everyone here gets one.”
“Then give it to someone else first. Let’s see if anyone dares to accept it,” Lena challenged. She worked in a hospital with strict regulations prohibiting staff from accepting any kind of gifts.
“Such a strict policy… How about I start with your hospital director? If he takes it, will you?” Hayden asked with
amusement.
Lena nodded. “Sure. If he takes it, I will too.”
Hayden didn’t know Lena that well, but Keira did, knowing exactly what she was up to. “Just put it away. If you really want to thank her, there are plenty of ways. When she gets married, you can give her a lavish dowry.”
“A dowry is separate. This, she still has to accept,” Hayden said mysteriously. He turned to Lena. “Open it and see. If you think it’s something you can accept, then keep it. If not, you can return it. We have witnesses here.”
Even Keira was surprised by his words. She had no idea what he was up to.
Aaron, who had been silent the entire time, still stood there like an outsider. He was holding a box–the one

containing the half–eaten bird’s nest soup that Lena had left earlier. His presence at that moment felt almost like that of a silent, ever–watchful bodyguard.
Lena raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. She finally reached out, took the red envelope, and opened it. Inside, she pulled out a card and read aloud:
“Annual Gym Membership.”
Hearing those words, Keira immediately understood. Hayden had recently opened a gym, and this was both a gift and a clever bit of free advertising.
“This card is a lifetime VIP membership,” Hayden explained.
“Your hospital director already accepted one. He even said it’s the best employee benefit and New Year’s gift they’ve ever received,” Hayden added, making it clear he wasn’t bluffing.
At that moment, Aaron finally spoke. “Take it. I own shares in that gym. If anyone accuses you of taking bribes, just tell them it’s a family benefit.”
Lena glanced at the stack of red envelopes Hayden had prepared. “Everyone gets one?”
“Yes. But yours is the only lifetime membership. The others get one year, with unlimited free renewals.”
