Charmaine was relieved. Thank goodness Celeste did not reveal anything. “It was the TV. I accidentally switched it on. This will be my last game. You guys go on without me,” Charmaine said.
“But we’ve only played a few rounds. Boss, stay a little longer, please. We won’t be able to win without you!”
“I have to work tomorrow. We could play again in the next few days.”
After finishing the last game, Charmaine got off the bed.
At the same time, Emyr had just finished washing up and was coming out of the bathroom.
There were water droplets clinging to his hair as he moved elegantly in the wheelchair. It was a scene straight out of a movie. Charmaine was captivated.
Her eyes were glued to his face.
A subtle smile touched his lips as he reached her bedside and gently pulled her into an embrace.
Charmaine moaned softly.
Emyr heard her breathing heavily. He immediately became concerned. “Are you alright?” Emyr asked as his brows furrowed.
“I’m fine.”
Emyr pressed her onto his lap without hesitation, lifting up the back of her clothes.
The delicate curve of her waist, the glow of her skin, were revealed.
His eyes darkened, a fire igniting within them.
Charmaine felt the cool air on her skin and knew without looking that he was examining her carefully.
“I told you, I’m fine,” she said impatiently, puffing out her cheeks.
Before she could continue, his warm hand had silenced her.
Charmaine wanted to argue further, but a moan had involuntarily escaped her throat.
“You may not be injured,” he said, his voice slightly hoarse, “But you’re not feeling your best.” His hand moved gently, massaging her lower back, where her spine had ached all day.
As he spoke, his hand continued its gentle, slow movements, massaging the lower back of Charmaine where her spine had been sore all day.
“I’m a bit tired,” she admitted. “I’ve been sitting all day.”
She had to admit, his massage was incredibly soothing.
With just a few presses, a relaxing and soothing sensation hit her.
“Here,” she directed, “and a little lower.”

“You should get up and move every 40 minutes,” he said, “You doctors need to take care of yourselves?
Sensing the clear disdain in his tone, Charmaine nodded in agreement, offering no argument.
What he said was true.
“I’ll be more mindful starting tomorrow,” she promised.
A subtle smile curved at the corners of Emyr’s lips.
He massaged her back until his wrist ached, then he slowly ceased.
It was only then that he realized Charmaine had been silent for a while.
Gently, he lifted her up and laid her on top of him.
She had fallen into a deep sleep.
“You’re the first to treat me like a free masseur,” he murmured, a hint of playful complaint in his voice, as he transferred her to the bed gently.
His gaze softened as he looked at her sleeping face, more gentle than the moonlight filtering through the window.
He climbed onto the bed himself, turned off all the main lights, leaving only a dim yellow lamp, and then wrapped her in his arms.
Charmaine had already fallen into a deep sleep, her lips slightly parted in a small arc.
He leaned closer, listening to her soft, gentle snores.
He gave her a feather–light kiss as he held her close and drifted off to sleep.
Rex was still not feeling satisfied. He carried on playing with Celeste and Sid.
With one player short, Celeste invited her cousin Erin, who happened to be online, to join.
Perhaps due to the addition of a stranger, Rex refrained from further bickering with Celeste. After a couple of rounds, the four called it a night and logged out.
Immediately after logging off, Celeste was bombarded with voice messages from Rex. “What was that about? Is that how you treat your teammate?”
Celeste retorted, “It was just a game. Don’t take it personally.”
