Charmaine curved her lips into a meaningful smile.
“So you’re saying I should be on guard against Charmaine?”
Leah nodded slightly. “Charmaine isn’t a bad person, but she’s not exactly using her talents in the right way.”
“Now that’s interesting. She’s never once gossiped about anyone in the production crew to me. Meanwhile, Ms. Nelson has fed me plenty of rumors. From what I see, you’re all kindhearted young ladies–maybe there’s just been some misunderstandings leading to bias. How about this? I’ll be the mediator. Why don’t you two sit down and talk it out face–to–face?”
Leah immediately caught Charmaine’s implication, and her smile stiffened. “Oh, there’s no need to trouble yourself over something so trivial …”
Charmaine scoffed, ready to throw in another jab, but her phone rang right then.
She picked up, and a deep male voice came through the line. “I’m at the hospital. Which cafeteria are you in?”
Hospital?
Cafeteria?
A chill ran down Charmaine’s spine.
Her mind spun rapidly, but the sudden impact of the situation left her stunned like her brain had been stuffed with cotton. She had no idea how to deal with Emyr’s unexpected arrival.
Before she could process it, Emyr spoke again, “Never mind. Tad asked around–I know where you are. I’m heading over now.”

It was only a short drive from the hospital entrance to this building.
There was no time to hesitate. Charmaine swiftly hung up, shot Paxton a quick hand signal indicating she had to leave, and turned to go downstairs.
Paxton nodded in understanding.
Charmaine strode toward the stairwell but suddenly paused. After thinking for a couple of seconds, she pivoted and headed for the second–floor terrace instead.

A kind of frenzy and heat he’d never felt before.

Leah approached, covering her mouth. “Oh my God, did you see that? Ms. Robin just jumped uraight down from the second floor!”
“I saw it,” Zayn murmured, his Adam’s apple bobbing. His voice had suddenly turned hoarse.
Leah noticed the change in him and, as if a thought crossed her mind, teased with a playful smile, “Zayn, are you falling for Ms. Robin?”
Zayn shook his head. He wasn’t sure. He had never liked anyone before. He didn’t even know what liking someone was supposed to feel like.
But he was certain–only when he was near Robin did he ever feel this kind of nervous excitement.
Charmaine rushed into the nearest public restroom as fast as she could. Less than 30 seconds later, she ran back out.
By the time she circled back to the cafetería entrance, a familiar Rolls–Royce Cullinan had just pulled up.
Just in time!
Inside the car, Emyr had just pressed the automatic door release when someone suddenly slipped into the seat beside him.
He turned his head. “Who else could it be but Charmaine?”
Seeing her flushed cheeks, slightly disheveled hair, and the way she was panting from running, Emyr leaned back leisurely and chuckled. “You were that eager to see me?”
Charmaine exhaled deeply, trying to steady her breathing. Then, flashing a bright grin, she teased, “Yep! Feels like I haven’t seen you in years.”
Emyr tapped her forehead. “You sure know how to talk.”
