Realizing he planned to indulge her with a private meal Charmaine’s eyes lit up. “I know a street behind Beacon Hospital with lots of delicious delicacies, but the road is too small for the car to get through … ”
Emyr, confined to his wheelchair, certainly couldn’t navigate the narrow streets on his own.
Emyr didn’t respond, instead instructing Tad to drive them there.
Ten minutes later, Tad and about ten bodyguards returned, each holding a bag of food, which they handed
over to the back seat.
Instantly, the luxurious Maybach was filled with the delectable aromas of the night market.
Charmaine, mouth watering, grabbed a taco and took a big bite. “So good!”
Halfway through her taco, she remembered her generous companion and offered it to him. “Want to try?”
Emyr hesitated, eyeing the unfamiliar, aromatic food with distaste. But when he met Charmaine’s expectant eyes, he reluctantly took a bite.
Used to gourmet cuisine, the typically sophisticated Emyr chewed on it with a blank expression, every bite a challenge.

Suddenly inspired, he guided her hand to her lips, wiping away a spot of sweet chili sauce, and then brought her fingertip to his lips, tasting it with a light press.
Just as he suspected, it tasted sweet and tangy.
Emyr smirked devilishly. “With such a delicacy before me, how could I have an appetite for ordinary food?”

Emyr countered with a question of his own. “What do you think?”
Charmaine, enjoying the garlic pasta’s pungent aroma, felt a surge of joy. She already had an inkling of the answer. “Could it be because of me?”
Emyr tapped her on the nose. “I’ll allow you this one moment of vanity.”
“Hehe, no need to go through all that trouble for me.”
Charmaine’s clear eyes sparkled knowingly.
Emyr continued, unfazed, “The entertainment industry is vastly different from university. It’s a murky world, full of unforeseen challenges. Although Paxton reliable, still-”
