He said it casually, but the others were getting anxious.
“Professor Robin, it’s only one episode! Please reconsider!”
“That’s right! There haven’t been many influential figures like Professor Robin in our country in recent years. Even though you’ve never appeared in public, that sense of mystery only makes you more captivating and drives even more engagement!”

Charmaine shot a resentful glance at Basil.
That scheming old man! He clearly made up his mind from the start to get me on the show.

As soon as she spoke, the room went quiet in perfect sync.
Facing all those expectant gazes, she gave in. “I’ll do it, but I have one condition.”
“One condition? We’d agree even if you had ten!”
“Thank you so much, Professor Robin!”
With that settled, they moved on to discussing the show’s schedule and format. Charmaine went through everything carefully, and once she confirmed there were no issues, she signed the contract with Paxton on the spot.
Paxton was clearly relieved. He must have been worried she’d back out.
Meanwhile, Basil watched with a pleased smile. He didn’t forget to remind everyone, “Oh, and one more thing–my student isn’t shy, so let’s keep this quiet. No need to draw too much public attention.”
Everyone agreed without hesitation. “Of course!”
Once the meeting wrapped up, the others left on their own, while the old gentlemen remained seated, completely at ease.
Charmaine stood up, leisurely waiting until Micah was the last one to head out.

Micah rubbed his nose, tempted to press his ear against the door and eavesdrop. But before he could, his master–who was walking ahead–turned around and glared at him.
“Are you leaving or not?”
Micah quickly dropped his curiosity and backed off reluctantly.

Charmaine glanced at the surveillance cameras as they powered down automatically. Crossing her arms, she leaned against the door.
Her gaze swept over the elders in the room. Just moments ago, they had been brimming with confidence, but now, every one had their heads lowered, silent and meek, like a bunch of quails.
Charmaine crooked a finger. “So, whose bright idea was this?”
Her voice echoed through the large conference room, but the old men didn’t budge.
She was a little surprised. Who knew they could actually stick together for once?

Taking her time, she spoke again, “I’ve been learning some recipes lately. I should be able to make ten different dishes without repeating-”
Before she even finished, Joe, Ian, and Kenneth instantly pointed at Basil in perfect sync.
Basil raised his hand, but there was no one left to point at. He could only glare at them in frustration.
“Traitors! You cowardly, useless traitors!”
Kenneth snorted. “If you’re so bold, then don’t eat.”
Ian chimed in, “You were the one who started this whole thing.”
Joe nodded along. “That’s right, that’s right!”
Basil was fuming. His unreliable teammates were going to drive him crazy.
Charmaine suppressed a smile as she stepped up to Basil. “You really are such a wonderful teacher.”
Basil braced himself and went all out. “If you don’t do it, I’ll have to go myself! I’m already retired, and now I have to come back to the show. Do you think it’s easy for someone my age?”
He complained bitterly, “It’s a student’s duty to lighten their teacher’s load, so, I did nothing wrong!”
